Okay now as you can see from my signature-thing, I am not a fan of Soccer whatsoever. But that is irrelevent here.
The ads on this site (and footywire) for this SBS Soccer show are completely uncalled for.
In case you haven't seen it, It shows an animation of a man kicking a soccer ball up and down until a football comes in the picture, he kicks the football away, disrespecting our sport and continues to kick his soccer ball.
Then the text comes up saying "WE LOVE FOOTBALL". Now I am a strong believer that in Australia there is only one sport that should be called football and soccer is called soccer but let's not get into that.
The thing that annoys me is that this ad has been placed on FOOTBALL sites like this one - clearly with theintention of pissing football fans off.
Someone tell me how this could be considered effective marketing??? The fact is they would be getting a far greater benefit from this ad if it were placed on soccer websites and I see no other reason to put it on football sites other than to stir us up.
Again, this has nothing to do with me disliking soccer - I would be pissed off if an American Football show did an ad like this and I love the NFL. I just think this is a completely inappropriate advertisement for the sites they have chosen to put it on.
Agree? Disagree? Not a big deal?
Any mods want to shed some light on the situation?
