It's a shame because it's directly opposite to Thebby it might have been a potential venue for the Crows to take over
It would have been fun watching the oldies cross South Rd in less than 20 seconds

To think we weren’t originally going to have a licence before Olsen, this has to be another tick.

Once SANFL and AFLW games start it will get decent patronage. Plus there will be some hardcore supporters that use it and I’m on the road a bit for work, would be good to stop in have a bite to eat and a drink and watch a bit of training.

Definitely don’t need a pub.
Had to have one, I'm all for a soft drink and a pie.... but if you're gonna do something, do it right

i think the club may have even looked into it in the very early days of Thebby, but owning a pub these days is a tough business.

Hopefully the bistro we've got is a good one. I probably won't use it a great day, but for those who do it needs to be quality
You would have thought Roo would be all over it if it was any good.

Nah it was a dive 30 years ago and thats when Phillips St was more industrial

Having the Michell Leather boys rock up with their fat dripping aprons added to the ambience

We don't even know what the finer details of the original aquatic centre plans were going to be. There was talk at the time that the Crows were going to potentially looking at taking over the pub across the road so who really knows how it would have ended up.

Even at the beginning when plans were first announced for Thebarton it didn't sound like we had anything planned because from memory all that was mentioned was a cafe were supporters could get a coffee from which sparked a lot of criticism from supporters at the time.

Hopefully there's now going to be a social facility of some sort for members to go ato where they can invest money into the club.

As much as I can't stand the pricks, my wife is a Port supporter so I've been to Alberton Oval since the redevelopment and it's pretty impressive so it would be nice to have somewhere in a similar vein for us to go and grab a meal and get a drink etc

Imagine the expense of buying a hotel and build a new facility? No way is that a good option.

We are going to have a cafe and bar where members can supporters can have a meal, a drink and watch the teams train and play. So it sounds like we are getting what Port have.

'A cafe and Members’ Lounge will provide all-day casual dining and drinks and include both indoor and outdoor seating.'

I'm thinking it's going to be pretty minimal, they have been very careful with their words whenever it's been mentioned in interviews.

There was a quote I posted recently when the Coopers partnership was announced. Saying they would be involved with the development. My read on that is there will be a 'Coopers Bar' for game days. Think an upgraded version of the Coopers shed at the Parade.

This was the bit...

'We will also be partnering with the Crows during the transition to the Club’s new headquarters at Thebarton.'

Coopers will be involved somewhere.

Presumably the cafe/members lounge is the one downstairs under the Function Centre in those photos?

I suspect they'll have changed slightly since then

Wasn't the cafe included in those plans?

There likely will be change, but not to the point where a small cafe has since been changed to a full blown bistro/gaming venue.

What's in the previously released plans I'd say would be pretty much what it will be.

How many people even go and watch training on average? And of those people (would have to be retirees), how many people would stay for a pint/Chardonnay and a schnitzel/salmon?

I love drinking as much as the next person and I even live not far away from the new ground, but I would rarely be able to go and if I did, I probably wouldn't drink there at 11am once training finishes.

Sounds like we're hoping for something that will rarely get used.

Sounds like Ports gets used, why wouldn’t ours?

I’d definitely take my son for a watch and have lunch if there’s a facility.
