Put in a TAB and it might be....AFL doesnt have a problem with gambling obviously, pokies anyone? šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚
It's the size of a milk bar .....no room to squeeze one in

It's hard to justify a Cafe, when maybe 150 turn up to training

I can only speak on ESS's Hangar .....but their main function area is reserved for staff only ....the cafe is very basic, and many training days, it's not even open .....not economical to run just for a coffee and cake

I have this feeling, the crows will be the same.

What are the operating hours of the current CAFE at West Lakes? I would think the hours would change once the women are there training and playing on a more regular basis. I assume the function room will be only officially used on AFLW Match days and other official functions, and then privately for weddings etc.

Carlton, Essendon,Richmond and the Saints have Pokies still.

I'd expect the new venue wull have a pretty large kitchen with all the bells and whistles given they feed the players every day they attend for training meetings etc along with a full time dietician and chef/s?

Because there becomes a bottle neck with traffic going north on Marion Road and most wanting to go left to the airport.

The airport location restricts traffic flow in Adelaide.
Marion road and Anzac highway in the south direction is completely ****ed in peak hour as well.

Yes, for a function room, the cost of chefs is prohibitive for the general public .....I can see the function room open on training nights, to cater for staff & players ....

IMO having public as well on those nights, would be annoying for players, who simply want a safe respite after training

Weekends though, you'd imagine private functions would be a regular feature

The footy park cafe? I have no idea. I’ve never really considered going there to eat a meal.

I guess I was hoping for an Alma style bar and bistro or a crows themed sports bar where you and your family and friends could go for a meal. I’m not getting that impression the function room will be anything like that.

It is what it is, a bit disappointing but we move on. 80,000 members and close to 650,000 supporters in this state, I would have thought there would be some kind of demand. Oh well.

It's ultimately a training and admin base with our AFLW home games to be played there.
As long it's elite for our players and staff to train and work at whilst being visitor friendly (which Football Park is absolutely not), that's all that matters at the end of the day.

Think that the cafe / functions will get a good workout being where it's located, unlike Essendon's facility which is located near the Tullamarine airport in the middle of nowhere.

ESS’s facility whilst flanked on one side by the Tullamarine Freeway ….. it actually is flanked on the other sides by suburbia, Ess heartland

It’s more accessible for supporters than Thebarton …. and we know supporters in adelaide won’t travel

It's why GEEL win so many home games .....that shouldn't be the case, if ground size doesn't matter .....but it does
I think it matters one way but not the other way as much? Geelong defend the narrow ground well, and players unfamiliar with the ground seem to kick it out on the full a lot.

For a ground with much wider wings, like the MCG, defensive structures would be different to cover more ground, but the advantage of an away side kicking it on the full doesn't apply here.

There's something about that Easendon facility I don't like. It seems... soulless? Ours looks to br a lot more, I dunno, vibrant? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Yes, I'd agree with that observation .....the area doesn't have a lot of trees, which I feel would soften that harshness you're referring to ....that and the back oval fronting onto the main oval, opens that space, not in a good way

Its all well and good to have an MCG sized oval, but in reality it doesnt help that much.

If you can have it and it helps at all, then it’s a reasonable aspiration. No problem parking it though, it was more important to get the development across the line. This might sound stupid, but what about a 2/3s oval. Goal posts to say other end 50 arc or so.

A cafe at Thebarton would be profitable you'd think
There are hordes of locals having picnics, walking dogs, exercising, playing sports etc every minute of the day down there

It's a non-stop full house
