New Carlton moderator discussion thread

Hey all

The workload on this board has increased a lot lately. We are the 4th biggest team board stats wise but on current traffic, we are pretty much neck and neck as the number one team board. Given our profile and current events, this also makes us a massive target.

We are sounding out another moderator and want some input from the Carlton posters.

With a new mod comes a new interpretation so we will be looking to provide a more consistent approach in terms of board bannings and infractions. This will not mean we will be allowing opposition supporters to continually invade the boards but it may mean we have to take more time to come up with a best fit application of the rules for each individual transgresser.

So if you have the time and drive to join the team put your hand up. If you think someone else would be a good choice, voice your support.

This is not a popularity contest though. In the end the successful poster will have access to some potentially sensitive information (not personal info) and have the power to disrupt the site if not careful. The Carlton moderators and the site admins will take into account the merits of the names put forward, history, ability to communicate, rationality, diplomacy and a whole lot of other pretentious sounding words.

So even if someone gets the most mentions, they will not automatically become the next moderator. We are more interested in seeing names thrown up. No doubt whoever we choose will have made a enemy or two along the way, it is the nature of the site unfortunately. Nobody is universally loved when you have such a large membership.

So who would you like to see as the next mod to join the team?

I don't think you want me as a mod. It would be a bloodbath.
Blugal HBF and Cranium seem to have a lot of time on their hands.
EddieB will insist he is ready but we all know he is a few years off

just a suggestion here..... but why don't the current mods get together via PM's & put their own suggestions together, thrown names around and make a decision between themselves.
The reason I state this is because the CURRENT MODS are the only ones who knows what the position (job) entails re: deleting threads posts etc, & they also know how much time is required to be successful in this role.
They have also seen first hand at alot of the blues supporters posts, so they are aware of who can be rational & who can fly off the handle.
I personally think that it would be better this way as there would be alot less names thrown around for the mod position & may be a quicker process....
I like the fact how you have asked the supporters on this board on their input but think that it may take too long & peeps don't realise in full what it will require
just my thoughts anyway

He seems to be online a lot these days and seems pretty well respected (even by non-Carlton folk).

We have considered doing this and we are happy to do it but by doing it this way, we can also gauge who else is interested or respected both to give us more options now but also so the admins have a hit list in case one or more of the existing mods is sacked/resigns/gets hit by a bus or simply disappears from the face of the planet. (I check my shoes for admin placed scorpions regularly ... do you think I watch too many Bond movies?)
