Who will be the Blues development coach in 2008 after Jason McCartney has decided to continue working with the AFL.

Does anyone know if the club are looking at anyone or have deals set up?

Brad Scott is one of the Pies development coaches and he isn't a former Magpie.

Lappin joins coaching panel

Carlton's senior coach Brett Ratten welcomed his former teammate back to the club as part of the new-look coaching panel at training on Monday morning.

"We are delighted that Matthew will continue his affiliation with the Carlton Football Club, he is a true Carlton person and he will be a great asset to our coaching team."

Unlike some of his former teammates, Lappin is a class act and true blue like Ratts said.

i really like the sound of that! he is/was a really smart footy player, one of the smartest in the league. how ever, i doubt he would return to the blues after the way we supposedly treated him...

I heard Jason Mcartney changed his mind after the Dick Pratt cartel case, Jason has a very high moral standing and thought he didn't want to tarnish his reputation.

either way - a develpoment coach is a gumby role - it's just keeping an eye on the youngsters, Ratten would still call the shots..... so i wouldn't think it's a big deal.

McCartney joined Carlton after Pratt admitted his guilt.

And the development of kids is more than just watching over the youngsters.

Matty and Teague will be a good starting block for the development of our young forwards and utility midfielders...

We really need a good defensive development coach who will assist the kids in our new look defense and help to reprogram at least one of our current top defensive players.

I think that we need somehow to get McKay and SoS back to the club to help with the defense or maybe Deano and SoS. Between the either of those combinations would be perfect for the club. An excellent ex-half back player and the full back of the century would do wonders for the development of our youngsters.

I think that right now, you would need a crowbar to get Braddles out of there full stop...

I wouldnt be surprised to hear in a few weeks time that his part-time contract had become a full time fitness coach under out new high performance manager.
