Now that St Kilda has left Moorabbin perhaps it is time for Melbourne to move to Moorabbin or even upgrade Sandringham VFL etc as our training ground and or club admin etc

Bayside is a real wealth corridor and there are plenty of red and blue supporters who could contribute to the club in all areas.

What do other members think??????

I don't mean to be rude, but we are already on the move and it has been known for quite a while and has had significant media coverage. At then end of next year we are moving our training and admin in together at the new Olympic park stadium.

I think our new facilities (which will be ready end of next year) will be much better than what moorabbin has to offer

I think all these other clubs moving away from their traditional support areas can only help Melbourne fc in the long run.

Worst idea i have ever heard on here. Lets move from one outdated crap hole to another one that is out of the city??? Why would we do that?? Clubs these days are going for high tech. facilities that is why we didnt end up with judd. I know he is precious and a sook and i dont like that but i think if we had the facilties he wouldnt have taken carltons cash ahead of us.
Olympic park facilities will be first grade or second to the lexus centre, but at least we will have an added bargaining tool for the future when other such players come out on the market.

Will we be training on soccer fields at our new base? We are sharing it with the Storm and Victory.
I'm not sure if they have fully worked it out but there are still a couple of ovals down there that are free so we will be fighting it out with Collingwood to train on them. I don't think we will be on the soccer field.

we will be sharing with collingwood... both teams will train in yarra park i believe which is just below the new stadium in this photo (which has west on top for some reason)

so the pies will have to walk past our home to train, i like it...

I'm a bit confused.

According to this, Collingwood's current training ground is where the new rectangular stadium will go. A new football oval will then be made next to that, which I assume is where Melbourne will train, but is it logistically possible to share it with another club (Collingwood)?

This picture seems to suggest though, that Collingwood may want to redevelop Olympic Park into an oval shape field. It makes sense, as the Victory and Storm won't be using OP anymore, and it is right next door to the Lexus Centre.

We should attempt to get the St Kilda pokie licence at Moorabin, I believe that is half the reason the StFC left...

If they are giving it up to move to Casey, then we should grab it, the more money we make in none football matters the better:thumbsu:

If St Kilda couldn't get it, what makes you think Melbourne will?

And apart from that, Moorabbin has nothing on our new facilities.

MAIN ISSUES:
1. St Kilda left Moorabbin to get more pokies and therefore revenue
2. We are at the mercy of others for our training ground at Olympic Park
3. There has already been a $15 million revamp looked at at Moorabbin

I thought that Melbourne needed more income and more supporters, well Bayside area is where the people and money is....not disrespect to other areas.

Problem with Olympic Park is that the 2nd A -League melbourne based club will want to join in and the governement and council will say yes....when will Melbourne stand on its own 2 feet and start building its own base for sole use and sole profit...that will stop us from any moves interstate.

this new stadium is a bonus for us...

we have a gym, pool, offices, change rooms, multimedia facilities ect at the bubblestadium

we still train on the football oval just next dor to us

collingwood stole the "lexus centre" area off us anyway, making them walk a little bit further to get to some grass will be good :D

This is my understanding:
- Melbourne Victory to move headquarters and train at/to new stadium.
- Melbourne Storm to move headquarters and train at/to new stadium.
- MelbourneFC to move headquarters to new stadium.
- MelbourneFC to train at Collingwoods current training ground.
- Collingwood to train at Olympic Park.

In short, Storm Victory and Demons will all be at the new stadium except we will train at Collingwoods ground and they move to Olympic Park.

Collingwood probably want Olympic Park so they can fill it with pokie machines.

Their own mini casino

Maybe we can build a new social venue next to that ground and fill it with pokies.

Moral of the post, We need more pokies!!

As long as we have kickass facilities and a decent training paddock I'm happy.:thumbsu:

The facilities are first class.
Most importantly, they're all in once place.
At the moment people have to arrange meetings at one location, then train at another, drive to a thir for weights...
Coaches especially can do without all that wasted time, given they have the greatest amount of moving from one location to another to deal with. Having the combined facilities will give every player and coach an extra hour or two a week for training, weights, recovery, and even just having a life. It also eliminates stuff-ups where people end up at the wrong meeting place.
It's that extra 5% that can make all the difference.

Thats why we need it, except i'm mildly concerned tats its a rather congested area and that we won't have access to the facilities whenever we want them.
