with Richmond's fortunes waning, members of our mod team have decided to fully embrace the #eco mantra, so it is time to inject some new talent into the team on the Richmond board.

We are looking for the Richmond boards next top moderator.

Do you want to learn from mods who helped deliver 3 premierships?
Learn from mods who birthed a successful worldwide podcast?
and do you want to learn from mods who helped have snake_baker perma banned?

If you answered any of these questions shoot the 4 of us a PM with a bit about yourself and a quick sentence or 2 about your ideas for the board or what you think you can bring to the table, you don't need a perfectly clean history to apply so don't feel like having a few cards in the past excludes you.

Why on earth are you people against character types? A little fun goes a long way in life it's not like they have threatened to kill someone. Have you ever heard of the term - thin edge of the wedge? That is how serious abuse tends to evolve, it begins at the thinnest or least inflammatory edge and can escalate, sometimes quickly. It's often a thankless task being a Mod, dealing with irrational comments sometimes, and whilst I get your comments and agree them in part, in principle, we don't always get to see the escalation, or know the worst of it. Probably just as well. Commonsense ain't so common mate. You and I can probably walk away from a knob - some can't it would seem.

We do let heaps go prob to the point of being too lenient sometimes, the biggest 'character' on the site is basically ban on sight elsewhere but we let him stay.

But if people want to complain about not allowing characters because we delete a million off topic gifs from match thread to keep it about the match then i don't know what to say.

No, I get why they get suspended and probably had warnings but society is soft these days. Sterge I met and a decent bloke so if he suspends it's warranted.
I know a few that I liked here over the years and got permabanned which I couldn't work out but like you say posts are taken down fast so you don't really see the reason.

All they said was parents should talk their babies through the process (which most probably do anyway) somehow its evolved into “parents shouldn’t change nappies without permission” which would obv be ridiculous.

You are very right on topics people get silly sometimes. Eg you have a Perma thread for the VFL and people create threads on the board instead of using that I go WTF.

You do and that's good, largely speaking, for this site. I am a fairly benign person, a believer in conciliation rather than confrontation, that everyone is entitled to be right and wrong without persecution unless they break laws specifically designed to curb harmful events. And yet I still shake my head at being perma banned over at PundRoadEnd. Anyone who knows the site and the former administrator and owner, whose tag was Rosy (who always mocked this site), will know how maniacal and sycophantic some people can become and how it might be possible to be banned even with typically benign fan behavior.

I don't think this site has much, if anything, to apologise for.
