This. It's only a number and unless you're changing numbers for sentimental purposes I see no need to change. Having a lower number won't make you a better player.

But it has always happened and always will happen.

I like players who make numbers their own. At Richmond the captain wears 17. Just can't imagine someone like Trent Cotchin in number 9. Keep the original number and make a name for it.
