The greatest winning margin in VFL/AFL history is 190 points: Fitzroy 36.22.238 def Melbourne 6.12.48 Round 17, 1979. Can we top that against Freo this week?

Now now dont get too far ahead of yourself! Have a feeling that the shockers will come out and give it a crack but we should still win comfortably just not by that much!

Incredible arrogance for a side that has failed so hard for over 100 years.

I don't like it either legitimatic but by the same token it's our board and it's not your place to come on here and insult our club in reply.

Well it is Round 4, which makes it exactly two seasons since Fremantle's last win in Melbourne in Round 4, 2007 against the Dees.

Let's hope your players are going in with the same mindset.

The swagger is back at St Kilda. 3 in a row eh.:o
Seriously guys I know you wouldn't all be as arrogant as this guy but lets just bookmark this little gem anyway. Not expecting a win but it's a 2 horse race w***ernow.

I thought this thread would be about the Saints setting a club record of 15 goalkickers in a game against WC. A great effort, although noting there are more players on the bench nowadays.

I don't think we could attack much more than we did against Essendon in Round 22, and we still only scored 147.

I'm just hoping the Saints will bring the same intensity to the game again, and keep the ball moving quickly. Also hoping for a bit less bizarre umpiring - did Kosi run over Matthew James' foot in the car park? He had the shits with us.

Hopefully we can avoid Michael "Don't Touch Me" Vozzo this week. It was like a Spinal Tap moment :
"Can I touch it?"
"NO"
"Can I look at it?"
"NO - YOU CAN'T LOOK!"

If we play like we did last weekend and Freo plays like the Eagles, we'll win comfortably.

If one of the above does not occur, it will be a close game, but I would still expect us to win.

If both of the above do not occur, we will probably not win.

In any event : if we show an attitude and the arrogance similar to that of the OP, we'll probably lose (and should lose, too).

first - nick off.

second - OP is not representative of all saints supporters.

third - you support freo. a one man team (now that mcmanus has gone). worry about the game not trolling my club.

What I've really appreciated about how most of us Saints fans have gone so far with the three wins is that we HAVEN'T become like Geelong or Hawks supporters. We're generally keeping a lid on it, being humble, beating everybody else to statements like, "Well, it's only Round 3" or "There's no premiers in April", etc. I do NOT want us to become arrogant tools like most of the supporters from those clubs.

PALEASE let's not start talking things up, guys. Even if we win the Cup this year (and right now, we are in no better position than any other club - ALL of them can win, it's a long season, form can change, etc, etc...), let's try to be classy about it. Classy means not trying to make every other team's supporters feel like tripe, turning every thread on every board into an excuse to talk about how great we are, etc, etc. I'm sick of seeing that in other clubs, and I don't want to see that in us.

Of course, I'm not suggesting you're doing all that here, my favorite monster-bovine, but these things start small. We start talking biggest margins, and before you know it, we're no better than the Geelong supporters who have become despised across the BigFooty landscape.

Agreed, arrogance won't get us anywhere. Great effort from the boys against West Coast, but Fremantle will be reasonable opposition. Remember what happened last year when everyone tipped us against the Eagles? Remember two years ago when Freo thrashed us by 8 goals up at Subi? What about the year before that when they beat us by 56 points? Even though these results were away from home, they still are losses to this Fremantle side. Some of the core is still there with a good youngster in Palmer and a future superstar in Hill (i can see why he was taken at 3, look at how he moves!).

You never know what to expect from Fremantle, their bad is atrocious and we haven't seen how good they can be just yet. They weren't terrible against Adelaide last week, and maybe they some confidence out of that loss into this week. I never feel safe against teams like Freo and Port. Their best and worst are miles apart. We play two of the most undisciplined and dishonest sides in the AFL over the next fortnight, both danger games.

i listened to the match and was in shock for the rest of the night IIRC

It would be a big mistake going into this match expecting to break records. If we play like we did against the Eagles, the result and margin should look after itself.

I wouldn't expect a huge blow out like we had against the Eagles though. The Eagles were pretty pathetic and the Dockers, for all their faults, usually have a crack and don't often get blown away by big margins.

Having said that, Freo aren't playing all that well either and are down on confidence so if we can get off to a good start another big margin could be on the cards. Can't see it being anywhere near 190 pts though.

Ridiculous thread.

I'm confused how this poster thinks we can break a record when he believes the delivery to Nick Riewoldt is rubbish.

Keep this up and you'll join the Nexus category.

You will win by 97 points then??;)

I expect us to put up more of an effort than the Weagles but I don`t see any chance of us getting close this week.

Less than 40 would be ...not so bad

Dude, both teams start on 0.0.0 - no team can be affording to count their chickens...

... okay, except maybe North Melbourne...

Lol - hook line and sinker.

Surely this was a tongue in cheek thread... Else please go support the Cats, Eagles or Hawks. Honestly I can't stand this type of arrogance. Especially in round 3.
