Certainly is coming along well old centre court, are they playing without a roof this year?
I copied the title from elsewhere, couldn't be stuffed typing it myself.
But yeh, pretty sure the roof won't be up this year.
It'll look very weird, almost like an American Tennis stadium... Roofs (Rooves?) are very English.

Don't like it one bit. I hate it when they change traditional courts! Some of the best matches at wimbledon have been rain affected!
the rain causes so many delays (especially the opening couple of rounds) and its such a pain for the organisers to have to catch up on matches when there is no court with a roof. this will be good for what is meant to be the greatest tennis tournament in the world.

But it wrecks the heritage of centre courts!
surely it's better for the game for the leading tournament to have at least one roof, especially when it's held in one of the wettest countries in the world. heritage isnt everything, you know.

I don't have a problem with them putting a roof on court 2 or whatever but centre court should be left alone
Maybe they should put a big sheet over the whole of South London...
they're putting it on centre court because thats where the best games are played, and they want showpiece games to be able to continue playing non-stop rather than stop-start.

Some of the best Wimbledon matches have been rain interrupted though- it is part of Wimbledon.
you keep saying rain delays are a good thing... how?
rain interruption is never a good thing and does not make a match more exciting. ever watched wimbledon coverage during a rain delay? they go to shot of the cowd looking bored, lying down having naps and stuff. boring as hell.

Take yourself back a few yrs- Henman vs Ivanisevic Semi final- it is remembered for the rain delays changing players' fate.
