PART 1
I read the link attached with great interest. Mark Williams identified this yr was the most important draft period considering the introduction of the new clubs along with the draft concessions.

With this is mind - I believe its critical the Richmond get this draft right. For sustainable growth I feel we will be delisting some overdue wood.
ie. J.O.N & Tivendale and there will be plenty of trade bait. One of Hyde/Jackson. I hate to mention this but I dont think there is enough room in the side for both Shultz and Polak and with tragic news of the last 48hrs I believe this may of saved shultz for another 12 months. Howat and Syslvester to be both delisted from the Rookie list

All these names are the first to be mentioned on this topic . With the changes to drafting I believe each team will have to delist one or two household names. Who will it be from Tigerland????

:(:(:(

Who I'd boot: Tiv, Hyde, King, Johnson, Pettifer, Meyer (if he doesn't show anything for the rest of the year), Caserley (ditto).
Of course they won't get rid of Johnson, but I'd try and trade him and Petts. Raines and McGuane I'd keep to trade to GC next year. With the extra 2 rookie spots, Meyer and Casserly could be rookied if the club thinks there's hope.

it won`t happen because we have no nads ... but i would just love ... for once ... to see us bight the bullet and trade ... seriously

i want Newman and Tambling out there in the red spot specials ...

Newman is Bowden MKII and Tambling .... ... up there with Lounder with dud draft picks

Schulz and Pettifer ... wouldn`t that be nice

Casserley is contracted, I think King is too as he only signed a contract at the end of last year but not 100% on that one
There is no chance that Johnson will be traded, he was very very good at the start of the year and wasn't fit to play against Carlton as they rushed him back for the big game.

Tivendale, Hyde are definites. Bowden needs to retire but will probably have to be pushed. Johnson may retire also but will probably play one more, could depend on how he plays out the year. Meyer will probably go, but may get rookied if he isn't too old. Pettifer will probably be shopped around at trade time but I doubt we'd get much for him.

I doubt they will delist Meyer. Not sure why so many people bag him. The kid has had a shocking run with injuries and has shown some good things. I don't want to see the RFC delisting kids like this when they could end up being good players. Surely he has got one more year. Hopefully he can stay fit, do a preseason and build some momentum.

The players who probably should go are Tivendale - delist, Petifer - trade, perhaps Shulz trade to Adelaide, Bowden - hired as an assistant to play for Coburg (similar to Licuria for Pies), Hyde -delist/trade (hate to say it due to his excellent clubmanship)

That's five players. Giving us 4 national draft picks and a preseason pick. We will have approx pick 5-7, 24-26, 41-43, 58-61. and pick 5-7 in the preseason. Last year our last pick was Putt at 51 i think and then we took Gourdis in the preseason. I would expect a similar result. No need to turn over anymore than 5 on the senior list.

delisted. traid bait
tivendale .... pettifer jackson
howat ..... pattison johnson
silvester ...... shultz bowden
cartledg ..... hyde we should try and improve our draft order as much as possible & i also agree about delisting & rookie listing myer, casserly

i would like to see if we could get warnock from freo but only if we can trade the above listed to get him.

All periods are important, but Williams is right to say that the next 12 is super critical when considering the new clubs coming in.
The ability for clubs to have access to the best talent won't be what it currently is when the new clubs join the league.

It's important for the Tigers to stick to their plan, and let TW and his group of assistants deliver on their plan.

Well done to TW, Miller and the rest of the off field team at Richmond for having the ability and foresight to put together a plan that is robust enough to withstand any challenges outside of the clubs control :thumbsu:

so tell us marketing manager....what exactly is the plan?...i mean there is a plan....since you are continually suggesting well done for it....so give us your take on this plan that is so well done. I really wait with baited breath for your take on how it will withstand the challenges outside the clubs control..that one will be one right out of the box....how do you actually plan for something in year 1 or 2, when what you are suppose to be planning for didnt even gain legs until year 4? LMAO.....shheeeeeeeeeeeesh...you are one serious ass licker arent you?

BTW, the clincher is if there is a plan and that plan is going to withstand what is going to unfold in the next few years re. new clubs....how can you suggest that gaining the best possible draft pick this year, forsaking any middle of the road ladder position, not part of that plan?
I mean, having the best young talent on your list, is the best way to withstand the challenges, so how goes it that at round 13, sitting where we are in wins/losses, do you implement the plan that gets you the best young talent to go into the future with? ;)

Plan is what it was when TW took over.

Make the Tigers a side that can consistently challenge for finals.

We now have that capability. A talented, up and coming midfield, the ability to kick big scores, and a defence that is super tight and solid.

All proof that the turnaround instigated by TW, his team and their meticulous planning is paying great dividends.

Make no mistake, the Tigers have turned the corner.

Well done to TW and the team for successfully executing their brilliant vision, and making the Tigers the feared football unit everyone in the football world has been fearing :thumbsu:

yeah, i could have given you that plan for a few hundred thousand less and hired a marketing man, to suggest it was on target....for a few hundred bucks..

Lets see, TW & GM have you got a plan...yes it is "Make the Tigers a side that can consistently challenge for finals."...;)

do we not have the 4th worst defence in the comp right now?? I can see that the future will be bright but still a few years away yet from being a strong outfit able to match it with the big sides of the comp.

Didn't carlton have the worst defence statistically last year?
Where is it ranked now? Proof that it doesn't take long to turn it around.

Well done to TW and the football department for recongising the gaps in the Tigers list, and working towards building a side that is on the improve whilist remaining well balanced :thumbsu:

Give it up Cogga, the guy's an obvious troll. You're just giving him a laugh. I propose that everyone ignores every post this tool makes, or one of the mods (please!) red cards him. Either that or we track his IP and give him a 'well done' over.:thumbsu:

nah I'm getting a good laugh out of him (for now)

his post in the cocktail party thread is pure gold:D

Well done to P sassegum for recognising the lack of mind numbing Big Brother style propaganda on this forum and and formulating and executing the plan to get him to the top of the troll food chain:thumbsu:
