Revolutionary Real-Time Physics Engine
Pioneering the next step forward in team sports video game realism, the all-new Real-Time Physics Engine brings real-world highlight reel moments in-game like never before. From face-offs to body checks, real-world puck and player physics trigger true-to-life reactions. Now anything can happen, including the ability to shoot and make plays while lying on the ice.

More than 200 Gameplay Enhancements
An all-new faceoff system, quick dekes, the new Hit Stick, and hip checks are just some of the many gameplay improvements that make NHL11 the most authentic hockey video game experience to date.

BrokenStick.png

All-New Broken Sticks
Broken sticks now affect the action in more ways than one. After snapping your stick on a wicked slapshot or having it broken in two from a hit, the play is never dead. Kick the puck to your teammate or have your teammate pass you his stick if you can’t make it to the bench to get a new one.

Playing with and against licensed CHL players from the Western Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and Ontario Hockey League, experience both highs and lows of junior league hockey action. Get scouted, enter the NHL entry draft, and see if you can become the greatest player of all time.

Looks awesome! Particularly excited about the "Be A Pro" enhancements.:thumbsu:

The Be a Pro does sound alright but I think I remember reading in previous editions that your line always started. So you could be on the 3rd line yet you would be out on the ice for the opening face off. If that is around again then I am not interested, EA Sports try to hold your hand right the way through their Be a Pro it seems.

Agreed, not going anywhere. :thumbsu:

Cool. Just checkin...

Yeh It's a bit weird that they do that, though I can understand the reasoning behind it....sort of. Today's casual gamer gets bored easily and if they are sitting on the bench for to long, they simply won't play the game mode. Though to spoil my own argument, you can still sit on the bench for a fair while even if your on the first line.

Won't worry me too much as it shouldn't take long to get to the starting lineup (1st line) anyway, and once there I don't plan on being dropped :p

Very excited about the minor leagues they have implemented to the mode though. Hopefully Big Ant can do this with their Aussie Rules game franchise in time with the VFL, WAFL etc.

Also, the real-time physics look awesome, can't wait to barrel someone into the barriers!

Stick breaking looks awesome too....

I don't have a fave NHL team though so I got a tough choice who to play as :P

Stick breaking looks mad! Being able to still hit the puck with your boot/hand and being able to grab a teammates stick and use it, is a massive bonus. Heard you can also drop your stick by accident after a heavy check.

I don't barrack for a NHL team either, got drafted to the Toronto maple leafs in my Be A Pro career so thought I'd go for them. After a season and a half near the bottom of the ladder, with myself being one of our better players, I'm slowly changing my mind.

Can we get traded when our contract runs out in Be A Pro? Thinking of a change....

I wonder what this new real-time physics system is and whether it is truly dynamic.

Nothing beats NaturalMotion's Euphoria engine at the moment for dynamic physics (overtaken Havok IMO), every game should use it, especially sports games (the only one currently is the relatively crap Grid Iron game Backbreaker).

If EA Sports can perfect this real-time physics engine then it will be good to see in their other games.

EA's new engine looks great imo. They better implement it for Madden 12 next year

What Ant_ said.

I'm excited for it. This is the first year I'll have a 360 to play the game on. Haven't owned an NHL game since 07 on PC which was rubbish (06 was great though).

The Be A Pro mode last year was great but it seemed like you got to a certain point and it took too long to go up the levels. Just became boring and left me not wanting to continue on. Hopefully this new mode of starting off a couple of levels down from the NHL will make it more interesting.

The broken sticks will be interesting to see how they go. I love the new jump over move and a few new dekes they have added along with the new faceoff engine.

Looks like they have made a pretty big jump from last years effort.:thumbsu:

The thing is, if you are on the bench for the faceoff, the first thing you will do is call for a change. Saves you doing that. The realism is taken away a bit but you would do it anyway so I'm cool with starting the game with the 4th line.

So has anyone else got this game?

Picked it up last week, early days but an improvement on last year's game.

Broken sticks is a nice feature that add's to the realism.

Personally I think the new faceoff mechanism is an improvement and in this game when you hit an opponent they stay hit :thumbsu:
