Why would he feel any different after he already declined the opportunity to take the number. Are we at the point where we’re trying to make up reasons that someone’s feelings might be hurt?

So I watched the SANFL Panthers vs Port game today. To be honest there was nothing better to do with regional Victoria having been dragged into lockdown 
, and no AFL games seemed interesting.
Thought I’d post my thoughts here as a casual observer, specifically on Horne, since a lot of the draft board don’t appear to like a balanced analysis of him there. That seems to be reserved only for Nick and other prospects.

I’d say he played about 60-70% midfield (the rest spent high half forward) as part of the preferred Panthers centre bounce setup with Matthew Broadbent and Bryce Gibbs. Finishing with 17 disposals and 4 clearances.
Firstly he was great several times at bursting onto the loose ball from taps. He definitely has decent acceleration over that first 20m which enables this (I don’t think his top line speed over distance is standout however).
IMO he’s not great at extracting the ball from the feet of the ruckman though. More from sharking a tap or swooping on the loose bobbling ball, within 5-10 metres of the contest.
He was monstered by Powell Pepper when matched on him at stoppages. Completely understandable given what a physical monster SPP is. (However I do wonder if a similar clip as the Fogarty one will be cut of him getting steam rolled, Jonah Lomu style, by SPP when he attempted to tackle him)
Paradoxically he was able to out muscle the smaller Boyd Woodcock at most ruck contests when lined up on him. It shows that he isn’t a skinny 18 year old running around there. Physically he is very mature already. Although he is listed as 78kg on the SANFL website, he looks much bigger than that now. I can’t see him putting on more than another 5kg at AFL level.
Unfortunately given the above, he was massively unaccountable for Woodcock around the ground after those stoppages. I noted that he allowed Woodcock to link up, sometimes multiple times in the same play, and be a serious offensive weapon. (Boyd Woodcock finished with 42 disposals and was easily BOG and worth us having a look at).
He probably broke even with Cam Sutcliffe when he was matched on him.
I’m still strong in my belief that he struggles to find any clear space, easy ball, provide an outlet option or get involved in chains of play. He played virtually no role in the attacking plays that led to the Panther fight back in the second or last quarter. It’s part of why he has such high tackle numbers IMO. Metaphorically he is always chasing tail.
Apart from the awesome goal saving tackle on Woodcock (which may have been slightly earlier anyway) he disappeared in the last 10 minutes when the game was on the line.
Kicking even at SANFL level was almost below average. He barely hit any targets the whole day, particularly when it wasn’t from a mark. He either missed targets completely, grubbed the ball or blindly bombed it long. Eerily reminiscent of Taylor Adams (or Danger/Beams) in that regard. For me it’s still a big question mark.
Conversely his handball game was on point around the contested ball.
He took a nice contested mark early in the game in the forward line. His ability to protect the ball drop when in the air reminds me a bit of someone like Jack Riewoldt.
Overall it was a pretty positive game. His defensive attributes are still easily his best attributes.
That said, the level of the comp is bog average and IMO quite a few midfield draft prospects would be performing similarly in that comp (if they were afforded similar midfield minutes).
