I’m finding the whole discussion over Daicos vs Horne-Francis to be embarrassing and cringeworthy.

Will Daicos help us win games of footy? YES
Is he the best talent available to us? YES

The rest we have no control over and is pretty much irrelevant.

Agreed. Who cares is JHF is better or not? And who cares if some people think he will be better or not. That would only matter to us in a live draft if we had the choice between the two. We don't. JHF can be a superstar for all I care - I just want Daicos to be a great player himself.

There are legitimate reasons why Nick Daicos has probably more question marks than JHF. We all want Daicos to be our next superstar, but playing in the AFL is not the under 18s. Athleticism and strength does matter a lot of the time. Not all the time, but a lot of the time. Look at Oliver, Petracca and Bont, even Macrae, they are all huge men that Daicos would be physically out matched against. If he one day wants to be a pure centre bounce mid, it would seem he has a lot of physical developing to do...or he may just be that out of the box absolute freak who is a star from day one. I think that's what us Pies fans are praying for!!

I do question the defensive side of all under 18s players who get 40 touches a game, so that will be interesting to watch as well.
Lol Lachie Neale says hi

I do love your name - makes smile.

I’m not sure why player discussion, rating and comparison, is necessarily bad per se. As long as it is balanced and not just flat out denigration. That’s what the draft and trade period is fundamentally all about.

It’s something we’ve always done in an open draft when talking about possible draft prospects (and will subsequently do if we somehow manage to get any more picks in this draft).

Sure we’re locked in to our player and that isn’t changing. But that doesn’t mean comparisons/evaluations/ratings still aren’t being made of Nick, particularly between fans, draft experts and in the media. Even more so in some regard due to the situation.

If you choose to ignore or not engage in them that’s your prerogative.

History shows that someone outside of the extreme pointing end of the draft will end up the best player in time anyway.

TBH there is a big chance a kid that gets picked well outside the top 10 that goes on to be bigger then JHF. Its just so hard right now with a lot of kids not having played in 2 years. Leigh Montagna is s still hurting from 2010.

Why? What happened to Leigh Montagna in 2010?

He tackles and runs hard both ways, often see him helping out defence. He just equally runs hard forward so racks them up. His work rate is elite for a Junior.

All we need to care about is Nick's preseason and how he sets himself up for 2022 and beyond.

Want to see him start in the centre bounce next year, potentially rotating to a wing/HB.

There's just no point shoving Elliot/Thomas/Brown type in the middle, they are highly ineffective and takes the development of our young mids.

It might be officially in honour of Presti, but 35 is much more Daicos's number.
Which is why they’ll let Nick keep it if he wishes. They offered it to Josh already but he declined.

It was a bizarre decision to award 35 to the first draft pick. It’s a famous number and should be allowed to continue the story. By changing the player every year the story has been diminished.

Understood and I'm conflicted about it. On one hand it's sort of an honour, yet it also dilutes it's significance. I really hope young Nick decides to make it his own.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he chooses a different number but would love him to wear it, and keep it.
If Sier is delisted, who gets 36?
