Are you suggesting that any AFL recruiter worth their salt wouldn’t already be watching junior games at this level?

They will have recruiters at his games sure. But they go down with a list of names to focus on because of the media attention he will be on that list. When at these games recruiters watch what these players do on and off the ball so do often miss things that players who aren’t on their radar do as their focus is elsewhere

I can’t believe there are people dense enough to think that the media drive the hype around underage players and not the other way around where it’s driven by recruiters and supporters.

These journos know less than people on here about these kids (we are blessed with some good resources) so they operate based on what the recruiters tell them. All they’ve done with Daicos is speak to X number of club recruiters who’ve all answered “he’s a gun” so they respond with articles on him because that’s what they think said dense supporters want to read lol.

You watch the next write up will be on Sonsie if he performs v the Chargers.

Not worth complaining about articles being written on him. We've basically committed to taking him knowing he'll be a top 5 pick. Better off just embracing the hype and watching his games/tracking his process at any opportunity.

As for tanking, he's better off just fully comititng himself and developing as much as possible. Setting himself for a Round 1 2022 debut is the best outcome for us... not trying to slide down the draft order 1-2 spots.

What so many of you fail to comprehend is it doesn't matter what the papers write - to us . . . but it does to them - our media has a king maker mentality and they simply can't help themselves.
Collingwood are the biggest click bait so they use us to rack up those clicks and claim they made this or that kid go high.

Media articles have no impact on a player at the top end of the draft pool being on another recruiter's radar. There could be an article a day or no articles from here on, and it wouldn't affect the position of a bid for Nick.

It is one of the common whinges of Collingwood supporters that is a pet peeve of mine (along with "the umpires are against us because we are Collingwood" or "the AFL is against us because we are Collingwood", etc).

I watched the first quarter on the stream and thought Daicos was probably one of the better players. Playing on Tyler Sonsie (a fellow top 5 fancy) and i thought daicos well and truly beat him-way more footy and a few clearances. Pretty contested game (think the ball is likely wet from earlier rain) and he showed plenty of time and space, but a lot of the next touches were turnovers or dropped marks. There were a few occasions I would have liked to see him go into the contest a little bit more rather than wait to receive but on the whole thought he was pretty good. Obviously only the first quarter.

I also felt he was being TOO outside of a Player.

Still looks Classy and does not Panic with the Ball.

I don't know the rules for sure but if you give a young kid a specific opponent, and they're as good as Daicos, they'll probably tag them even if you don't use the T word.
