Sorry sr36 but I couldn’t bite my lip on this anymore......I blame the Accountant in me. 🤦‍♂️

“A dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow”

When the tomorrow of the 2021 trade period arrives. Do you think we'd have any hope in hell of trading the dollars we got from GWS for a pick around the one we've traded? The only hope for our deal to hold value is for our two to have years that are way above expectations. Without rarely good first years, we devalued our assets. That deal made our 2021 balance sheet lighter.

Sounds like we got some good ones in the draft though and Daicos is going to be a star, so fingers crossed that we get lucky and right the ship quick smart.

I didn’t know your nickname was Fonztradomous.......let’s just let this year unfold.

I think you’re giving GWS more prestige than they deserve

Sit back and enjoy the ride mate.....what is done is done.

Me.....I am looking forward to watching our kids at the VFL this week.
I know I should drop it, but I can't help replying.

Our recruiters must be convinced that they are Fonztradamus if they think that they're going to jag it correctly in an unexposed draft that every other club was backing away from. We instead went all in with our first rounder to get two picks at a range where in a normal draft more than half the picks fail, so the odds are that one will fail and if you're lucky you get someone like Bruzzy Maynard with the other - a legend - but not worth a top 10 pick. it might end up having a fantastic outcome, but so might dumping $50,000 on a black jack hand in the casino.

I can forgive Beams and letting Treloar and co. go, as that was the product of us going all in on winning a flag with the 2018 group, which was a fair enough gamble in my opinion. And if it wasn't for salary cap drops due to covid, we probably would have gotten away with it by getting decent trade value back. This trade however, I just can't understand why they did it. This is the one that makes me think that they've got no bloody idea what they're doing.

I'd love to be joining you at Vic Park for the VFL to watch the new blood in the VFL - hopefully they're crackers. And I'm also looking forward to seeing some new blood off field next year.

Yes . . . . you should drop it.

Oakleigh looked for Nick Daicos on what seemed like every drive forward in their 46-point win against Western. Amassing 40 disposals, nine marks, six clearances, 11 inside-50s, two goals, four behinds and two score assists, Daicos has entered the No. 1 pick conversation. The Collingwood father-son prospect has made a statement through his consistency and dominance during his first three NAB League performances, averaging 33 disposals and three goals through three games.

I love the way he shakes his teammates hand after the 2nd goal. So professional!

He's also very vocal. Not just on the ground, but even from the bench. Very active in everything going on.

He was in pick one conversation long before that game by the professional recruiters.

Rendell said Daicos, who is the son of club great Peter and brother of Josh, was playing better than any other player he’d seen at NAB League level.

“Nick Daicos has had three games which I don’t think we’ve ever seen in underage football (before)," he said on SEN's Dwayne's World.

“If he stopped playing now, he would still be number one in this draft and Collingwood knew that last year.”

In the same game, Nick Daicos continued his barnstorming start to the season, recording his third successive best-on-ground performance.

The Collingwood father-son strengthened his pick one claims at Werribee’s Avalon Airport Oval, amassing 40 disposals, 11 score involvements, six clearances, 145 ranking points and booting 2.2 in a dominant display.

Daicos had time and space whenever he had the Sherrin and was regularly directing traffic before he disposed of it – a testament to his high footy IQ.

The 183cm midfielder, who spends most of his time at centre bounces and rests as a dangerous deep forward, looks well above the level after slotting eight majors and averaging 32.7 disposals and 162 ranking points across his first three NAB League games.

I hope he doesn’t get injured while storming barns. We’ve already had Quaynor get a nasty gash simply playing football.

#3 Nick Daicos

A class above and clearly the best-on-ground again as he amassed 40 disposals to go with two goals, nine marks, and 11 inside 50’s. He could not stay away from the ball it seemed as he patrolled the middle of the ground and snuck forward to rest. His first goal came from a free quick and his second out the back in the goal square, although he did manage a further four shots that would miss. Two of them were in the final term where he had options to pass, but instead had a shot from 50 metres and another tight against the boundary. Both minor blemishes in a game where the result was out of question and the sting was out of the game though. He looked like he had so much time when he had possession and very few of his 40 disposals would have been ineffective. His set up at stoppages varied and was clearly making to the hit zones, but he then worked hard to spread from stoppages, sometimes at the detriment of his defensive running. He also did a good job of directing teammates and being constructive in structural set ups. Will be interesting to see whether he remains at NAB League level and boosts his draft stock or opts to develop in the VFL.

And what about if we finished in the 8 which is probably what they were expecting?
Even under your scenario, at best we would have picked up 2 picks in the teens. How many of those who go to matching Daicos?

And to think pick 5 will land us 2x 1st round picks + early 2nd round in 2021 + a 1st round pick in 2022 is far fetched. At best probably 2 picks in the teens in 2021.

While the ‘magic beans’ look extremely exciting if you have been following the VFL.

You’re a genius, where did I mention also getting a 2nd rd pick? You said the best we’d get for pick 5 is two picks in the teens. That’s exactly what I said.

The only 8 we are making is the bottom 8. GWS must love trading with us, every trade with them has been a loss.

Two mid first rd picks. One in 2021 and another in 2022. One goes to help pay for Daicos this year, the other gets us a player next year. With our lack of recent high picks we need every 1st we can get.

Sorry if i misunderstood when you said:

"If we end up with pick 5 we could get two 1st rd picks, a mid 2021 pick to cover the Daicos points and a 2022 1st."

That sounds like 3x 1st round picks to me. I'm a little slow. And my bad re: confusing mid 2021 with a 2nd round (pick 20-40).
