You guys said that Sydney should play him in the midfield ....

Nick had this to say on the Swans main site ...

"Missed: Nick do you think you have the fitness to play midfield if not when?
Nick Davis: it was good to get into the midfield a bit on Saturday night, the coaches are pretty keen to get me in there. I'm doing a bit of extra training on the side to get my fitness up, and from now on I’ll probably play a bit more time in there every week"

Point of this is to ask.... is Davis better as a leading forward? Or as a midfielder?

You guys should know having had him there for four years ...

Pure half forward type. He's not a small forward or a tall, he's a mid-sized player like O'Loughlin, very hard to match up on.

I don't think he has the kind of strength needed to win balls on the ground in packs, or the pure pace for running the ball across lines. He should make a good wingman/linkman (he has very good disposal by hand and foot), but his ability to produce class goals from limited opportunities makes attack his best possie.

IMO Nick Davis IF FIT (not seen for some time) is a gun midfielder. He is also a gun forward IF FIT. It is a bit like the Daicos argument. Potential 30+ possession midfilder with excellent delivery, great attacking skills but limited defensive ability or potential 50+ goal small forward.

The answer depends more on what you need I suspect but I would play hiom as a midfielder and rest him in the pocket.

He played his best games when fit off Half Back Flank drifting forward IMO.

When the game is there to be won thoiugh he was often very good at going forward and kicking that clever goal.

I always thought he would be a great winger, able to roam back and forward.
As everyone knows he is a great kick and can pass the ball very well.
He always reminded me of Keith Greig.

agree with murray that he'd be a decent wingman but anything involving getting in and under to get the footy is beyond him. soft as ****e. 15 tackles in 2002.

hmmm

He can play HB or HF flank or on-ball but just be prepared that he will not get the hard ball consistently or be accountable when your team does not have possession.

You can actually see he is getting fitter, last year his arms looked fat, this year definition is back.

Yep, I was at that game Hoggy at Telstra Dome.
He kicked the last goal of the day from a long way out that finally buried the Roo's.
He has no guts but he can really use the ball well. Hence my Keith Greig comment earlier
