I'm not overly keen on Stevens I reckon we would have to give up to much. But it sounds like Port don't want to trade him to Collingwood. The pies have Buckley going onto the veterans list so they'll have some extra cap space.

dont Melbourne stop paying Woewodin? which means he will take some room??

I would prefer stevens to brown..

Pies in hunt for Stevens

GUN midfielder Nick Stevens has played his last game for Port Adelaide.

Unhappy: Nick Stevens apparently wants to play with Collingwood, which he supported as a kid.

Port had wanted to make Stevens, 23, its pin-up boy, but he is expected to announce soon that he wants to play for Collingwood, the team he barracked for while growing up in Victoria.

But Port is reluctant to trade Stevens to the Magpies, and Power officials have told Stevens' management team it will control any deal.

Neither party can afford a stalemate that would leave Stevens to be claimed as an uncontracted player – with no return to Port and no satisfaction for Stevens – in the pre-season draft, likely by the bottom-ranked Western Bulldogs.

It is a scenario well known to Victorian clubs, several of which have already put proposals to Port.

But Stevens and Power officials are maintaining the image they are talking on a new contract at Alberton, even though Stevens' asking price is understood to be well beyond Port's salary cap.

Port chief executive Brian Cunningham yesterday in Melbourne denied the parting of club and its star player was a fait accompli.

"Nothing of the sort has been discussed," Cunningham said.

"I spoke to (manager) Max Stevens yesterday and nothing of the sort was talked about.

"Our discussions will continue through the course of the week."

But all optimism of Stevens, who last month declared he had put off contract talks to the end of the season, staying at Alberton has waned as the year has progressed.

The season has been littered with reports of Stevens' discontent over how he has been played in the Port side, particularly when used as a forward in the first half of the qualifying final against Sydney at AAMI Stadium.

Interesting to do a poll as to see what Richmond supporters want to do over the trading period...

- Nathan Brown?
- Nick Stevens?
- Scott Lucas?
- Jade Rawlings?
- Luke Power?

or

- Keep 1st round draft pick?

It's more than likely that it will be one or the other, but interesting to know your thoughts. I'm leaning towards Stevens purely because he's 23 and he's a midfielder... that shoulder be our main priority.

3 - Nathan Brown
2 - Nick Stevens
5 - Scott Lucas
4 - Jade Rawlings
1 - Luke Power

Our captain has been a big game choker his whole career, so we would be crazy to draft Nick Stevens, a bloody big finals choker in his own right!

Considering it appears that you hate every player in the AFL, which players to you rate and would like to see at Richmond?

I've been wondering about that too.

Diggler?

a lot of the fans on the port adelaide site are canning him. Soft, stands around the edges of packs, loses his temper too easy etc etc.

IMO - dont go after Nick Stevens. Throw Bowden and our second round draft pick to either get Luke Power or Nathan Brown (Bowden going to Bulldogs would make sense as his bro is there).

Alternatively, I would be tempted to throw our no.1 draft pick for Luke Power or Robert Murphy from Bulldogs. Re Brown, he is on the wrong side of 25 to throw a no.1 draft pick at.

The players I want at Richmond are unattainable, but the club is better off going for the Solomans or Wirrupundas, rather than softcocks like Stevens and Brown. A signing like Jonathan Brown, to me, would be perfect as he would stand out like a beacon in the nancy boy land of Punt Rd. Luke Power would be very handy too!
