I hope Nintendo are brave and we get a remake similar to what Capcom have been doing with the Resident Evil remakes.

Updated graphics, orchestral soundtrack, voice acting, make plot changes where necessary, add features from recent games.

I think they need to - a 1:1 remake of OoT just doesn't really work in 2026.

But voice acting... now you're dreaming 😜

Always wary of remakes. The "Goldeneye" released on Wii was truly awful. You don't take an absolute classic and replace Brosnan with Craig and change the plot because 15 years have passed.

I would be happy to see OOT or Mario 64 exactly as they were with updated graphics and mechanics.

Not sure what they will do with OOT but it lends itself to being more open world than was possible with the N64 hardware.

Goldeneye I guess is a case of its own with the first game being made by Rare who were in “rare” form at the time.

The remake/remaster was made by some Activision team that basically only worked on game-movie tie ins.

As for OOT, I doubt Nintendo would do it if they weren’t going to do a whole reimagining/expansion and improvement of the original. They didn’t even do OOT3D in house and that was a reskin.

I don’t see them ever touching a Mario 64 remake with a ten foot pole myself, think it’s a different case to OOT.

Assuming the remake is part of an effort to generate interest for the live action film coming out next year.

Zelda is my personal GOAT franchise (have ink to prove it) but not sure of the point of making a meaningful remake when you may as well just make a similar style but something relatively new, ala Echoes of Wisdom. (Links Awakening HD was great though)

Not sure it works in 2026/27.

That's already been done with the Super Mario 64 native PC port. There's loads of mods like a shotgun mod which is incredible, because it destroys most things, including the trees, doors, platforms, and the gameplay mechanic improvements like a full 360 degree camera I think in Super Mario 64 Plus.

Ocarina of Time also has a native PC port called Ship of Harkinian, but I haven't tried it out that much, I think it's similar with a massive graphical upgrade and some improvements to the gameplay.

Goldeneye on Wii changed the story of the game and incorporated Daniel Craig's likeness and is set in Dubai and Nigeria. WTF, nobody asked for that.

I love Mario 64 but the mechanics are awkward. There's a lot they could do to improve it without really changing the gameplay.

The creativity of some people is incredible.

But we all know none of these mods make money for Nintendo and that's their aim. Mario 64 30th anniversary HD edition would make them a motza.

I think Super Mario 64 Plus is for you, then, it fixes a lot of the mechanical issues.

I highly doubt Nintendo themselves will do another remake of Super Mario 64, no matter how much money they make, they already did a remake for the Nintendo DS in 2004. The fans are the only ones developing the game further, like with the Doom community keeping Doom 1993 alive.
