your right about it being vintage bowie:thumbsu:

Bit like tom waits bad as me, it seems to be a real showcase of what the man can do.. without feeling like its just treading water. The melodies are strong, playing is tight and strange enough where it needs to be. But most of all his voice is really back in full force. You get all sides of it on this one. Prob what the last few have lacked. He sounds fantastic on all the tracks.

Dirty Boys/Love Is Lost/If you can see me/How does the grass grow are my highlights.
Class:D

Low is an essential night time album.
Didn't think much of it the first few times. I thought it was way overhyped..i was wrong.
man the songs just get under your skin. works so well as a whole.. or two of the greatest EP's ever. sometimes i feel like the poppy first half or the dark ambient second half.

Always Crashing in the Same Car :hearts:

Listening to the title track I can just picture him doing it live. Standing slightly side on. Head tilted at the audience. Look on his face that says "I'm David Bowie, why the f*** are you even daring to look at me?".

Absolutely quality album.

The Next Day is great, been listening to it for the last three weeks trying to absorb everything. It's like Heathen but with more energy and thought put into it. Bowie's voice is surprisingly strong, it's very well produced, and the playing is excellent. Favourite track is probably Dirty Boys, looooove that sax groove. Title track, the two singles, Valentine's Day, How Does the Grass Grow?, and Heat are the other stand-outs IMO. Some great lyrics in there, too.

Perfect album to end a career with, a definite high note to go out on. The title track is a real rehash to the early 70s.

I'm just gonna say I'm not a big David Bowie fan by any stretch of the imagination (as in I know who he is and don't mind his stuff but I don't listen to it religiously) but I put him on in the car the other day and I couldn't believe just how many songs I actually knew! Space Oddity, Changes, Modern Love, Ashes to Ashes, Let's Dance, Ziggy Stardust, Jean Genie, Rebel Rebel, Young Americans, China Girl....
Am I just a victim of Triple M or are they really that memorable that I've listened to them before and just remembered them. They all seem like they would have been pretty big hits?

Every one of those songs was a hit...some big, some mid-range hits.

Ashes to Ashes was a massive hit. Number one in many countries at the time.

But they are the radio hits. He recorded many dozens of others that are awesome tracks.
