Until recently we were following pretty much the same script as last year which gave me hope for the finals. but now we've lost 3 in a row whereas last year they never lost 2 in a row for the whole year, so doesn't look good at all for the finals.
I think the only hope and it's a slim one, is to bring in some untried dynamic players and they just might provide the missing ingredients. Mostly I'm talking about Dawes and Barham, but Maccarthy is another possibility.
Probably won't work, but it's about our only hope and therefore worth a try.
And we need to do it this week and leave them in for the rest of the year even if they are hopeless for the first couple of games. Probably should throw Stanley in with them also and see which ones come up to speed by the finals (if there are any finals for us).

Of course if Shaw and Didak are suspended the season is over anyway. But it would be very irresponsible for the club to do that over such a trivial incident, since their main responsibility is to win games for their members (and other loyal fans).

I agree completely with the bottom part of your post..

"Of course if Shaw and Didak are suspended the season is over anyway. But it would be very irresponsible for the club to do that over such a trivial incident, since their main responsibility is to win games for their members (and other loyal fans)."

The club should not be dictated by the media, should not be dictated by strong public opinion, of which the majority would be the view of opposition supporters. We are a strong club on and off the field for a reason, we dont give into popular belief. And we should not start doing it now.

I'd susped them both for the season. Sheahan's a tool, but he does make a good point and that's the impact it has on the younger players at the club. That's an absolutely shocking example to set. We're not going to challenge for the flag this season, truth be told, so let's not screw ourselves for the future by having everyone on the list think it's acceptable to get on the piss during the season, and the night before a training session.

There's winning games and then there's winning games. This match against St. Kilda, in the grand scheme of things, is only the former.

OK but what about the idea of bringing in new players for the rest of the year, esp Dawes and Barham? that's what this thread is about. (my fault for adding the line about the Shaw incident)

surely two or even three can come in for obree shaw and dids.

id hate to see stanley play down abck though , id rather him start in the midfield and play obrees role.

right whack him right in the guts, I wouodn't drop O'bree though if possible. but who else to drop? I think should give DAvis mroe games to play back into form, he always takes a while unfortunatley after injury. Probably drop Goldsack, has case of 2nd year blues. Maybe give Brown a rest, replace with Anthony. Seemed like they weren't passing to Anthony much last week, maybe he needs to paint his chrome dome fluorescent pink or something. (or actually chrome it).

gonna be so very interesting on saturday

will we come out like we're on a mission or come out like a team thats lost spirit and is broken??

this could spark our season back to life.

cmon guys this is not the first time we face issues at collingwood

and we all know how much the media likes to get on us. FFS that ******** mike sheahan has an article ni the paper "DIDAK MUST BE SACKED". i swear i would knock that old mans teeth out if i saw him, what a ****wit

we'll get through this we'll get stronger.

But one thing is right, like Ed says, from now on the players must show that they MUST, they MUST want to be at collingwood and do what it takes to stay at collingwood.

no more easy rides.

hopefully mick follows the same stance and drops obree, maxwell, toovey :p:p (just kidding)

I'm praying that if Collingwood is the team I think it is, the lads will come out ready to do battle unto death. The presence of some young blood would be timely, not just because they're ready and we need them, but to give us all something else to focus on.

I'd suggest Dawes and Stanley as the pick of the bunch atm.

As for the more pressing matter, and sorry Somebody - I know it's not the intent of the thread, but I was out last night and have just heard the latest developments - my head says suspend them both, but the rest of me says let them play! We keep can keep them under house arrest when they're not training or playing.

Your praying, but your not getting what you want. Too many boys are playing to keep their haircuts, they aren't worried about battling hard for a win.

If I was St Kilda I would be shitting myself right now. I honestly believe we will be hungrier on Saturday night than any game this year - including the Geelong match.

The lads have had their integrity challenged this week. I believe that they will answer the challenge in the way of a pure champion club. The club is bigger than any individual and this may spur the team into the finals.

Last year our season was invigorated by blooding lots of kids - time to reapply this thinking.

Dawes & McCarthy to debut and Stanley to be given a deserved chance.

the thing is, it has been a difficult decision whether to play kids or stick with experience.
But now the decision is easy, since there's no doubt we don't have a hope unless we do blood kids - so at least it would give us some chance.
Just gotta throw them in the deep end and see if they swim, even if they drown for the first 2 or 3 weeks.
