Maybe it's just me, but I noticed a definite improvement in our "inside game on Sunday. For one thing, there was little if any of the "hailing the cab" flailing of the arms to appeal for holding the ball at the stoppages. Our guys seemed more inclined to wrestle the ball free from the opposition and I think we got the ball moving our way on a number of occassions as a result. Also, when our guys had the ball and were tackled, there was none of the "lock it in and wait for the ball up" mentality. It was all about taking on the tackler and somehow getting out a handball, which more often than not worked in our favour.
I am just wondering if the club's request for umpire guidance, which has seen a couple of umpires down at the club recently, has contributed to this shift? Whatever the reason, it was good to finally see the boys play till the whistle for a change instead of trying to jump the cab queue. Hope it continues!

Good get, I think you are onto something.

Certainly the umpires willingness to keep the ball in play worked in our favouras a result.

Great call Roundy..

But being consistent in this is the key.

Actually, lack of consistency is our biggest problem full stop.

Lets hope we have turned that corner.

We have former AFL umpire and Former director of umpiring WA Mike Ball advising the club on umpiring and relationships with the whistleblowers.

i think in any sport you are going to get a better deal from the umps if you don't whinge at them. How often do they change their minds anyway?
