No Respect

Am i gonna be long in the grave before other supporters actually start respecting our players and club?

No-one i know rates Foley as a superstar...his performance in the Hall of Fame Tribute match chalked up as a "fluke" usually
Thursfield is only slighty rated and only then as and i quote "a poor man's Nathan Brown"
And the worst of all is Jake King...no one is willing to put their hand up and say he is a hard running player.....or as a bummers fan called him "a bit of a joke" (at least he puts his head over the footy, thats gone out of fashion down at windy hill these days)
I could go on

It really annoys me that i rate and respect players from other clubs and no one gets close to rating any of our boys or the club

what have we done so far to earn respect?

I do think we have shown vast improvement and i'm happy with the way we are playing at the moment but we have beaten no one of substance yet.

If we can beat Sydney we will be well on our way.

I'm just happy we are no longer a laughing stock, Essendon and Melbourne can have that!!!

How many top 8 sides have we beaten?That answers your question.Foley is a great player playing in a lowly team which tends to influence peoples opinion.Thursfield is developing well but too young yet.
King is a goer but concedes too many goals to be a great player.
If we start beating the highly fancied teams then we will gain respect.

When Miller seemed to be lamenting that Collingwood didnt respect us it was bloody embarassing.

It is something that comes with time and you will be too busy enjoying the results where you wont notice it.

Foley is amazing and I rate him up there with Judd. Others will think me a nutter but I think he's a smart, balanced player who's explosive off a step.
Thursfield has matured nicely and gets the most difficult job each week. Going to be great with more size and experience.
King: well, what to say - tough, smart and although his disposal sometimes lets him down, he provides heaps of run and backs himself in each week. Is the best backline player we've had for years!

very true,

but as an outsider of the richmond footy club i have alot of respect for you boys. Foley is not a superstar or champion. has the potential but a champion in my eyes is a player who can sustain the A+ level for most of his career like a carey lockett, gary ablett sr, harvey, west, voss, hird, bucks, bartlett and a francis burke. Foley is not there yet still young and will eventually hold up that side after richo and possibly be the next captain. Thursfield once the kid puts on the size he will hold his own. you have a good mixture of players and cotchin will eventually come into that midfield over time which the opposition supporters will eventually recognise. possible centre simmonds foley cotchin, tambling when he gets a bigger engine deliedio could have a spell in that midfield does look that bad.

couldnt care less - we'll gain respect when we make finals for 2 years in a row - until then we are just pretenders
