No Simpson = Watts?

Midfield is set until the clubs 300year celebration and for some reason we dont want to draft any backman so that leaves the forward line....
Young Scotty Simpson, touted as the best FF in the draft, a Neitz replacement some were saying. He was available until pick 44 yet we passed up on him with our previous selections. Is this another blunder from the Dee's or is this an opening for the great man Watts to weave his way in through the pre-season draft?
Don't be surprised if come December PSD Pick 3 is one F.Watts.

considering we didnt have a third round selection (traded to adelaide for messan) what were we supposed to do?? pass on maric and take simpson way too high at 21?
Maric they say is the best kick in the draft, id take that any day against a guy who has only proven his worth against seriously under strengthed youngsters at under 18 level.

We didn't go for him because:

a) we didn't have a pick to take him with and

b) Craig Cameron doesn't cream his pants and over-rate players.

Simple enough? We will either take Sampi or a youngster in the PSD.

I'm interested to know what exactly we could get out of Watts that Nick Smith couldn't do. The guy doesn't even have a cool nickname.

If we were to draft Fergus Watts we would be taking a massive backwards step. The guy could not break into the Saints team, and before anyone comes back with......"ohh but they had Grieg, Kossi, and Big Nick" If you are good enough you would still make the team end of story!
He didnt even play well for Casey in the VFL.

I would much rather Sampi or getting another young kid to develop.
