The Cats will hold their main training session on Wednesday at the Geelong Baseball Centre according to AFL site.

Apparently SS is very muddy and badly chopped up after recent games. Geelong has had 62mm of rain since the beginning of the month

U 18 matches last Thursday were like watching ice hockey/mud wrestling. Friday's training was transferred as there had been further rain - the surface at the MCG is better than ours so their move is probably sensible - risk injury as it is - surely they'll try it this Friday though.

Geelong to train on baseball diamond

Looks like you won't be able to watch the team train...

Geelong assistant football manager Steve Hocking said the Cats would erect goal posts on the baseball pitch during the closed session to allow them to practise their kicking.

Further updates..

Skilled Stadium concerns surface

The Cats will train at Geelong Baseball Centre, Waurn Ponds, tomorrow, in what will be a closed session.

...

Geelong's assistant football manager Steve Hocking said the Cats would hold their Friday morning session on St Mary's oval.

Can't you just sit on the hill and watch them train, how can it be a closed session when there is nothing stopping you from walking the perimeter and watching them :D

Anyway, the surface at Skilled didn't look too bad when i went into the shop yesterday, although i didn't see it clearly....i guess it isn't to good when i saw Ling, Egan and Chapman training on an outside oval.

Funny how they booted the VFL and Falcons off the weekend before to save the ground, yet play two games on the Thursday in heavy rain and the ground is so chopped up that two other games are moved and the AFL side who's home ground it is has to go elsewhere to train. Surely they could've had the VFL play the curtain raiser to the Swans game and moved all the National championship games to Optus Oval, which doesn't have any games on it during the season.
