I've gotta do a bunch of promos for community TV and radio, and need to access some non-copyrighted music for the background.

Anyone know of any sites which distribute such music freely - it is community media after all, so there is no budget allocated for such things!

Kazaa, etc.. seem to only have copyrighted stuff (for all the good that does 'em), and I can't have anything recogizable on the promos or we'll be up for royalties.

Anyone help out ?

Thanks, Ghost

Your best bet would be getting in contact with local musos, and asking permission to use their music. Most will oblige in return for a little exposure. Artists with any knowledge of the biz will have all their tunes copyrighted, it's their only hope of making a buck.

Yeah Milk, I suspected I might have to eventually do that. Throw em a few beers in return for some riffs I reckon.

check out mp3.com.au... i know that's a legal site where u can download music from... not sure how public you can make it, but it's worth looking into...

Reviving a necro-thread, but for anyone else looking for free non copyrighted music, there are many sites nowadays that let you use music just giving credit and a link to the artist website.

Just google The Free Music Archive, AudioBanana or Bensound and I'm sure you'll find the music you need.

You can save the beers for the day your channel gets one million views.
