While I’ve always hated Port, could never bring myself to dislike Boak. Champion of the club and the game.

The fact he turned his back on Geelong to stay with Port should be commended.

This is going to save Port and Hinkley huge embarrassment.

Bottom line is Port are going to get smashed their last two home games (Freeo and Suns). There will be tarps out everywhere.
So at the end of the Suns game would the crowd boo Hinkley or applaud him?

Now they get to have Hinkley and Boak walk off together. No-one is booing Boak, so problem avoided.

He was their version of Sloane I reckon. Maybe not the most talented, but definitely one of the most hardworking and best sportsmen. I definitely appreciate him turning back Geelong to stay in SA too. Good Vics who turn their back on the "come home" stuff always get a bonus point from me.

If they couple the two together with Ken and Boak both chaired off, it is disrespectful to Boak.

I've always had a soft spot for Goody. Sat next to him and Kane Johnson years ago at a Showdown lunch. Sometimes used to run into him at the Arkaba shopping centre and at the Alma.

It's sad that he's had personal problems, which may still be troubling him.

I wish him all the best for the future.

I think he'll get a "Director of Coaching" or whatever fancy name you want to give it type role somewhere. Will be working with coaches, not players.

I agree, I can't see him getting a senior job anywhere. Maybe in 12 months a club might take him on as an Assistant. His time was up 12 months ago, if he left then on his own terms he might have been employable.

There will be plenty to come out about the Dees now Goodwin is gone.

Adam Simpson reputation took a huge hit towards the end of his time at West Coast but he didn't have any of the off field drama.

True but the pay out is a $1m ! How can these cash poor clubs make such horrendous decisions that cost them this much .

They all spend the full caps and the AFL makes up the shortfall. Can’t be any other way, competition would be less even if clubs couldn’t spend the full caps. $1m sounds like a lot, but could be a year and a half.

I’ve never really thought anyone deserves a flag that didn’t get one. Although, it’s probably less the literal interpretation and more a statement about how highly you rate a players contribution to their club.
