Origin = beginning
Beginning = birth
State of Origin = State of Birth
Simple really, surely not even the AFL can fcuk that up.
Original state they started playing footy? Let’s say a player was born in Vic, moved to SA as a kid. Played all his footy here and even sees himself as a South Aussie. Who does he play for?

I don’t think that should be the sole determining criteria or even any part of it. But I do think it should cease at around the end of primary school. If points were also allocated for place of birth, I wouldn’t bother arguing against it though.

As long as ‘origin’ is clearly defined and interpreted to the exact letter, then it’s fine. If you were born in QLD whilst your parents were on holiday from SA, does that make QLD your state of origin? I’d say the birthplace is less important than where you’re raised, particularly as you begin your sporting development. Which is why I reckon primary school is the key factor.
