We could have entered negotiations to buy undeveloped land and our oval footprint from the developer.
Why would the property developer sell land to us... To develop? My understanding is the SANFL owned the lot and sold it all off together. We would've had to pay a massive premium to get some back (in fact the entire development is probably predicated on having the oval green space).

If we'd been a partner in the Bowden option that could've worked, though not as well as this.

Thebarton is surrounded by the school and public lands so it's not even an option there.

I think it's just good recognition of an opportunity by Port - especially if they kept it secret long enough that the other vendors didn't jack up their price.

Interesting to read the article and learn that we had interest in him as a free agent. I guess we’re reaching far and wide to bring players in. Although I don’t rate him either. As mentioned, he just isn’t damaging. At his best he’s an accumulator, but it’s seems like a considerable period of time since we’ve seen him at anywhere near his best. How the hell does he get that sort of contract ?? Madness in my mind.

As we bloody well should be. This is a team crying out for guys who can produce big numbers at the coal face, to the point that's what ended our final's run.

You are correct, the SANFL did own the entire parcel of land including the Crows shed.

Then in about the early 2010’s they updated the west lakes precinct and signed a long multi deal to reside at Footy Park, from my understanding, the developer, SANFL and Adelaide Crows came to an agreement to break that lease and that’s how the SANFL were able to move back to West Lakes and opts high performance hub and have the Crows money to add to the Thebarton development

This week's practice matches (starting tonight), are they proper broadcasts or still the shitty Kayo stuff?

Judging by the last few years, tonights broadcast should be very close to a regular season game. It won’t be like the use of the Sony handicap used last week.

Port Adelaide sign Balyn O’Brien and Mitch Zadow to rookie contracts as Crows lock in Max Michalanney

Port Adelaide has two new recruits after opting against signing Jaidyn Stephenson — here are the weapons Power fans will see from their new duo.

follow
One is a defender who is as hard as “Nails”.
The other is a bullocking small forward who “does everything with a smile on his face”.

Balyn O’Brien and Mitch Zadow, were both a little surprised to become Port Adelaide’s latest recruits after successful summer auditions.

But their junior clubs, Norwood and East Fremantle, said they were rewarded for their hard work. O’Brien, 19, played six league games last season, including three finals, only to be overlooked in the drafts.
Zadow, 22 next month, impressed for East Fremantle last year, booting 18 goals from 14 games, including a dozen in his last seven.

Sharks coach Bill Monaghan said Power counterpart Josh Carr, who came through East Freo’s juniors, would have liked Zadow’s approach.

“Josh was super competitive and Mitch has that attitude,” Monaghan said.

“But Mitch does everything with a smile on his face, even if he knocks someone over.

You're a baseball fan, how much involvement did we have with the Giants? Were any of our higher up staff involved in the management or strategy decisions of the club, or did it largely just keep running as it was prior to our purchase?

I think we pretty much just ensured the club was funded. Bar some cross promotion in the early days of us running it, there wasn’t much cross promotion between the Crows and Giants.

Since Peligra took over ownership of the Giants, things have operated pretty similarly to when we ran it.

The ABL has its issues at the moment but the Giants are probably the most stable club in the league. If only the club could get some better match day facilities (which is in the works with Adelaide Shores at the moment)

Wait Mitch McGovern is still on Carlton's list??

Jagga Smith looks awesome

The developer buys to ultimately build roads and blocks and service connections. There’s nothing stopping us from proposing a large block for our purposes be built into the overall plan for an agreed price. What I just proposed is buying vacant land, Port have bought developed land to fuel their project.

You don’t have to get defensive about it. I’d rather us at Thebarton than land banking and committing to West Lakes for 100 years. Even our down years should allow us to spend full caps, Port need that passive income though.

Kudos to them though, it looks awesome, no doubt you concur?

I think we're saying the same thing. I just think the 'agreed price' would've been enormous because of the detriment to the overall value of having control of the full site. And the SANFL wouldn't have agreed to it.

I'll wait to see the actual development rather than a concept (apartments on the Port aren't super desirable, regardless of whether they should be) but I agree it looks good.

Tanner Bruhn very impressive 1st quarter for someone that missed a year's footy,Elijah Hollands hardly touched it.
Up to 12 and 2 goals now
