If Sloane had changed his name to Sloane-Stoneham before the draft I might've been a bit wary.U never know. I was sure Sloane was gone. Even GC have a 200 gamer.

And Collingwood will play Adelaide at the neutral ground - MCG. Also at that neutral ground Dees will play Freo, and Richmond will play WCE.If they ever get it . It will never leave.

We had extra flights from Melbourne to get people here.Gather Round would def be a huge hit in Perth. Good point about timezone tho.
Still they are used to getting screwed with Sunday arvo timeslots and 530pm Friday "night" games so wouldnt notice.
They have to be next cab off rank. Would sell out Optus Stadium every day no doubt.
The Streisand Effect.Thats the irony of all this..
Highlighting it.. complaining about it..
Asking for it to stop..
Nearly always results in making it worse. It just encourages people to do it more.
Just like nicknames.. if your mates give you a s**t nickname and you go “meh, whatever, couldnt really care less” then it generally doesnt “stick”..
But
Get all pissed off and emotional and tell them “thats a fxxked nickname” and it will be used forever!..
It is 100% Kane's fault.Couldn't have said this better myself:
But speaking on SEN radio on Monday morning, “Cornes, who slammed Roos’ fans “disgraceful” behaviour towards Horne-Francis on the Sunday Footy Show, argued there’s more contributing to the hostile narrative than his opinions.”
Kane is doing his job perfectly.I'm glad that Buckley has called this out.
Kane Cornes is looking like a massive hypocrite at the moment.
Last year he was banging on about Jack Ginnivan constantly for weeks and pretty much put a target on his back. Ginnivan last year was younger than JHF and Kane didn't seem to give two shits about his psychological well being given how much he was trying to fuel negativity against him.
Kane is constantly just jumping from one bad situation to the next and never learns.
Even if we don’t get it secured permanently now, when the other states pitch for it they will soon realise it can’t compete with our advantages and we will keep it.While South Australia has secured this fixture for the short term, we really need to push the AFL to make this a permanent AFL fixture and do whatever it takes to keep it. I mean if they can sign off for the Grand Final to be played at the G for decades, I cant see why not.
All the VFL Clubs have hijacked all the public holidays during the AFL season, this would be absolutely the perfect way for South Australia and both SA Clubs to get marquee games and be the entire focus of the AFL community for one round.
Im also not 100% convinced it would work in WA, NSW or QLD. Our location, time zone difference and ability to pack out every game has to be how we market to the AFL, that Gather Round, should be Gather Round in SA permanently.

AFL boss Gillon McLachlan said last week the intention behind Gather Round was “bringing people together and celebrating the game and what it means and that connection”.
In that case, it was nothing short of a resounding success. McLachlan on Sunday night declared it’d been “some of the best days and events the AFL has ever delivered”.
Even if we don’t get it secured permanently now, when the other states pitch for it they will soon realise it can’t compete with our advantages and we will keep it.
If they said now that it was ours for good they’d piss off those states. This way the AFL gives them opportunity and they’ll have rationale for turning them down after considering them.
I was puzzled for a while on Saturday. The clue for the cryptic crossword was "fireman who doesn't put out fires". This was an easy one, but now matter how hard I tried, I couldn't make "Cornes" fit! Reluctantly, I conceded that the answer was "stoker".

Kane is doing his job perfectly.
His job is to create controversy. Doesn't matter what it is about or what side of the fence his "opinion" sits. Which can be fluid.
He creates a springboard for others in the Footy media to create content from.
Buckley, Robbo et el all have discussion ponts and create more content thanks to Kane creating the initial controversy

Fair point.Yeah I feel Bucks is still more of an expert commentator though. I don't really think he goes searching for headlines. He responds to questions posed by the likes of Whately etc, and has a pretty good footy brain. I also find Buckley incredibly articulate, and sensible. Whereas Kane is a muck raker, who tosses a coin when he picks an opinion, and rams it down everyone's throat. He's straight from the school of Hutchy. Robbo is just a journo who also thinks more about headlines and ratings than actual footy.
Fair enough. But why isn't Taranto getting booed all the time? Or Tom Lynch? Or Cameron? Or any of the other high draft picks who left their club to go back to Victoria. It seems going to Victoria is fine, leaving is not so.Why doesn't Kane just shut up about JHF until he is the best player in the comp, if he is so confident that will happen.
Or is this just a distraction so Pirt fans stop talking about Ken, Ken gets 5 more years and we all celebrate?
JHF isn't even the best player in his draft year, but no doubt a good footballer though. Still doesn't seem to be worth the newspaper space
We had extra flights from Melbourne to get people here.
Will the airlines do the same for Perth?
Not to mention the cost.
Plus an easy 8 to 9 hour drive.
WA would support it more than Sydney and Brisbane. But it only works financially if you get interstate people in.
SA is by far the best State to hold it.

You don't think there's a difference between JHF's departure and those you mention...i.e. 1 year then want out?Fair enough. But why isn't Taranto getting booed all the time? Or Tom Lynch? Or Cameron? Nah not much of a difference. North got enough pics in return. It's asinine to boo a 19 year old for wanting to leave the bottom side after spending your whole existence up until that point to play football at a high level. Not his fault North were a basket case. I don't blame our players for leaving after the collective mind debacle either. His mentor was Tarryn Thomas wasn't it? That'd be like partnering Rankine with Stengle. You don't think there's a difference between JHF's departure and those you mention...i.e. 1 year then want out?
