Traditionally "weaker" clubs like South and West have had quite a number of players drafted in the last decade or 2, it seems very strange you'd want to vote against a system that gives you a monetary benefit from that.Greater compensation to clubs for players drafted is an interesting one.
It used to be that if an SANFL club had a player drafted they would be paid directly. The more players a club had drafted, the more money they received.
The SANFL clubs themselves voted against this system. The weaker clubs argued that it rewarded the strong clubs too much and the gap widened. All clubs said that it was an unpredictable revenue stream so hard to budget.
So it was scrapped.
Now the SANFL clubs just get a flat fee across the board, no matter how good or crap they are. Easier for budgeting I'm sure but if WWT is decimated by losing three players at once... the SANFL club's compensation system is to go **** yourselves. This is the system the SANFL clubs wanted.
