From memory the trade the Blues did for pick 3 to get Jagga with all the clubs involved including us was 2 first round picks wasn’t it?
Jagga looks good from 1 preseason game but I am very happy with what we got out of the deal and would never pay that price for him.
He isn’t HR!!

They traded their 2025 R1 and R2 picks (became 8 and 26 before draft complexities) to Hawthorn to get pick 14 and then traded that pick plus their own pick 11 to us for pick 3

So notionally 8,11 and 26 for Jagga

Cheers, so a very high price for 1 player.
Everyone is fawning over Jagga for 1 game and he looks very good, but everyone is also neglecting the cost to the Blues.

Be prepared to hear about it none stop go a while. David King this morning was banging on about the biggest stuff up in recruiting 10 years being the eagles missing out on this guy.
It’s a good thing I have such a low opinion of sports journalists then. More often than not their informed opinions are only surface deep.

Yes, we can passed on Jagga but we turned one player into three. Time will tell if it was the right call but with Lindsay looking the goods the gulf between Jagga and Lindsay doesn’t seem too large by itself.

Not the spud that North traded a future first rounder for instead of picking Shanahan?

you can't win with east coast media. on one minute, they want us to trade Harley Reid pick for more assets, weaker assets, but then when we do trade a high pick, we stuff up.

decision has been made. biggest stuff up is GWS not trading their gothard pick for this one. if jagga is as eaglevision says, then he would have fit right in at GWS with their orange tsunami. instead they have gothard. is it really worse than that decision?

everyone can make a good decision in hindsight. and if you say enough things, you are bound to be right on some.

Spot on, they were saying we should have also traded down the pick 1 and pick 2 last year for more first rounders

Damned if you do, damned if you don't

Media should be ignored as they have the memory of a goldfish

Daicos is 184cm and 80kg.

Smith is 180 I thnk and just over 70kg's and I don't think he has anywhere near the class of Daicos. Smith had a very, very good first preseason game but we'll have to wait and see. I think with his weight and strength if he's not protected by a strong midfield and gets tagged he would be easy to lockdown.

This will go against everything I argued with eaglevision but at end of day, he can still be at VERY least as good as baker or laird overall. issue is that game plan naturally gets skewed towards these small guys and then you get bashed in finals when you realise that your shouldn't have your game plan so skewed towards light players. but too late, you already committed large cap space to them.

Baker is smaller and does some midfield stuff. Adelaide punted Rory laird out of midfield as soon as they could (who is still a big body). no reason why jagga can't meet same quality level (he was pick 3 after all), but to argue basically that this is some midfield saviour is laughable. laughable really.

is laird better than baker and Allan? probably not. Would I cry about it for a decade, no. if Adelaide lost laird all of a sudden, would it be a collapse in ladder position? no.

I cry about not being able to get Dan Curtin though.

I don't get why people are acting as if smaller and lighter blokes have no midfield position. If they can play they can play. Sure you wouldn't want to build an entire midfield out of little blokes but you can easily carry one - especially when you've got Cripps to do the grunt work. Jagga will be good. But at the end of the day as well, we have Harley, Duursma, and CDT all taken around the same area of the draft. They'll be good too.

It's a carry-over from the Fyfe, Bont, Danger, Cripps, Petracca "prototype"

Not saying those guys don't/wouldn't still dominate the modern game but arguably Daicos, Butters, Anderson, Richards, etc are more important nowadays to team structure and balance in the current transition-reliant meta

I for one, look forward to them cutting up Freo for the next 3/4 years.

You would almost think its a stitch up by the AFL to create two Northern super powers just as arguably, the most unsuccessful club in the AFL gets its best list together and sees the door as being open for it to reach ultimate glory.

Good point. We just recruited Murdoch who is the same size and will play HFF because he's too small for inside.

Shhhhhhh.

Little brother loves to indulge in the fantasy that the big bad AFL has it in for them.

Geez I thought Melbourne might struggle this year but that 1st Q against Richmond made Richmond look really slow and average.
I have always liked Langford & Windsor as footballers and really enjoy watching their progress.
They are cutting up Richmond and slow players like Lalor & Hopper.
Richmond might be spoon favourites?
