Adelaide finished 15th in 2024 so they were always going to get an easy draw for 2025. It's Geelong who were gifted....they played in a Preliminary Final in 2024, so going by how the AFL do the draw for the following year...the higher you finish the previous year the more difficult the fixture for a tram should be. Instead Geelong played quite a few weak teams twice. Not sure what the AFL were thinking..
Oh yeah 100% agree. I think the system of theoretically splitting the ladder into thirds and that's who you play twice is fair.
We will see how Adelaide hold up now in the finals, but you can't deny the fact that although they have had a fantastic year, it has been handicapped immensely by the draw.
Geelong on the other hand, no idea. Perhaps the AFL didn't see port not nose diving this year and essendon have a season from hell regarding injuries.
