Mark Harvey is at the lions... Wouldnt think he'd do an under the table agreement though after what happened to him at freo.

Politicians would be proud of timing like that.

Like the Carbon Tax debacle announcement the day of the blackest day in sport press conference (or was it mining - deflection must have worked)

Pretty much proved that it worked in one sentence, haha.

also happy birthday maaaaaaaate

So people actually think it was smart of the Lions to sneak an announcement like that out behind the Essendon charges? Personally, whatever you think of him as a coach, his standing at the club meant he deserved a bit more of a dignified exit than that. Especially if Paul Roos was the target replacement, it's not like they have to get him in for a few rounds to see how he handles things, is it?

From a practical point of view though, Roos would be a nice fit there.

I wouldn't be against getting voss in to work on the clearance and contested side of our game. Rated highly in that area from what I'd heard, aside from his head coaching ability.

Would make sense he was fantastic as a player at it.

Buddy's instagram account has brought the game into disrepute.

It is the sort of rubbish you expect when you worry about trying to "protect the brand" in the academic sens of spin doctors and pr managers. The best way for Brisbane to have managed this would have been to wait until a point at which it could be the focus of the news so that it could pay homage to the legend of the club of the club which the club feels it no has to part ways with.

The decision is a bizarre one as it either happened two to three years too late of a year too early. It seems to me that Voss' true worth would have been known in the next 12 months. Strange that they'd give up now. I'm not sure that it can all be about Roos given that the negotiations could simply have happened behind closed doors.

I continually read/hear/see Roo's name as a possible coach.

Are there not any other coaches in the AFL.

Why don't all 18 clubs employ Roos as coach.

It would save lots of money and time on selection panels.

The power of leaving on your own terms.

There don't appear to be enough quality coaches to even warm all eighteen seats as is, let-alone queue up to fill them.

There are heaps of coaches, it's just that boards and selection panels seem to be influenced by public perception of coaches. It has resulted in favourite sons (Voss) and hacks (Neeld) getting jobs while good coaches have been overlooked.

Ross Lyon was as unfashionable as it got when he started. Kern Hinkley was not even close to be a first choice.

There are then guys like Eade, Williams and Harvey who did nothing wrong as senior coaches.

Agree with this, I think we've stalled developmentally this year, especially with our young guys. Obvious distractions aside, we can't see this as an aberration as it could be another wasted year. Voss seems to have a knack getting the best out of young midfielders.
