Are people now prepared to admit that the Dogs are a very mediocre team?

I think mediocre's unreasonable. They've been undermanned for most of the year & are still battling on manfully.

Created enough chances tonight but butchered everything in sight ...much like we did against them.

They just got over the line against a number of ordinary teams and have been made to look ordinary against top teams in the bigger games. Decent teams kick 100 points most weeks.
% is a stay that is normally a good bearing on how a team is going, Dogs % is 11th-12th which sums up their true form and classes them as mediocre.

I think the key games (apart from ours) are:

R21:
StK v Mel

R22:
WB v Port
Mel v Bris
StK v North

R23
Haw vs WB
Coll v Mel
Rich v StK

Regardless of who wins against the Saints and Dees tomorrow, if Port win next week against the Dogs, then we just need to win our 2 matches and we'll be in.

If we think that the Dogs are going to get up next week, then we want a Saints win tomorrow, and then hope that they lose against the Tigers in the last round OR hope that the Hawks beat the Dogs.

And they sit 7th on the ladder & still on track to play finals if they win their last 2.

Again I repeat, given how undermanned they've been, it's a good effort to be sitting in the 8....which isn't mediocre at all. They stitched us up well short of their best side.

What's that make us then??

Also WCE vs Blues, GWS vs WCE and WCE vs Adelaide.
Not ruling out a side until they are officially shot. Eagles could get us on percentage if Adelaide rest up in rd 23.

Surely we want a Saints win anyway since their percentage is made of poo?

Medium impact by Greene = 2 weeks.

Would be a disgrace if it was. Eyes on the ball, no kicking motion, low impact to Dahl.

Only reason its getting discussion is Tobys history. If pendles did that the media would be going nuts over his basketball leap "LOOK HOW HIGH HE GOT DARC, HES GOING TO GET ALTITUDE SICKNESS" "yeahh good call BT, really got up for that one"

The media not trying to make a big deal out of it. Not at all...
Thats's ****ing disgraceful.

Didn't Neville Jetta get a knee to the face in a similar situation a fortnight ago? You didn't hear a thing about it and I can't recall whose knee it was.

Or is that the thing, it was Green's foot not his knee?

Regardless, there's no rule saying you can only protect yourself with your knee.

I mean, it's not like the win itself consolidated the Giants' position in the top 4, as well as pushing the reigning premier to the brink of missing finals, is it?

Even the act itself is only getting so much attention because it drew some blood. And the fact it's Greene involved.

The media love creating villains as much as heroes, as both get the emotions going with each and every act they perform both on and off the field.

Clickety click.

it looked terrible, and Greene definitely intended to hurt someone, not protect himself.

Sure, it might well be within the rules, but just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

it was a campaigner's act but would require the AFL to reinterpret the existing rules on the fly... so he'll get two weeks

If Green kneed in the head and concussed the bloke he took the speccy on a minute after the foot to the face would he be negligent and face suspension? I mean, he knew he was there...

Seriously though, players have been raising their legs up to protect their space for ever. If you're going to suddenly outlaw it to the point of suspension you need to inform the players that it's a no-go first.
Given this is the first time anyone can recall it happening, i think there is a point of difference here. What he did was kick out at head height. I think that has to be an illegal act if you actually connect with someones face. I think he is unlucky in a sense because it was largely down to his athleticism, but i would imagine that players will told through this suspension that you cannot kick people in the head under any circumstances. A knee to the head in a marking contest can be dangerous, but is an integral part of the game and usually people dont get too hurt. If you can fend off people with cleats in the face then there could be horrific injuries.

I think people are taking who it is into account. If this was Bob Murphy everyone wpuld be saying it's accidental no case to answer. He shouldn't even get MRPd for this.

One camera angle makes it look a lot worse than it was. The reason his leg pushed out at the end was so he could turn in the air to get the handball off.

I know there's people out there that say protect the head protect the head. But if we start suspending players for every accident involving the head we won't have to worry about protecting it anymore because there won't be a sport to watch. It'll be a chess game.
