So far I’ve read the Bulldogs are trying to recruit the following players:
Cal Wilkie
Conor Budarick
Dev Robertson
And no doubt a few others.

Again, the player movement market s ems to place us at a disadvantage. We lose several players and are lucky to trade in one.

If the Mad Monday precedent was set last year, then Bailey Smith has to be suspended. There is not an argument against it.

AFL says 'they are leaving it with the club to deal with' inferring that they are a protected species.

That slap on the wrist with wet lettuce they received is a joke but to be expected.

Patty Perfect couldn't possibly be sanctioned nor could Bailey Smith who won the role model of the year award.

Since we are not a protected VFL species like Geelong, our boys needed to be careful and opted for a very subdued end of season celebration.

“It was very low-key this year, we just had a catch-up all together and there was no dress-ups or anything like that,” Toby Greene told 7NEWS.com.au at the Toyota AFL grand final live site.

“It was very quiet.”

Greene — who was fined at the time for a lack of leadership, rather than any involvement in the skits — said omitting dress-ups from their 2025 celebrations was an obvious choice.

“I think it was just a given — it wasn’t really discussed,” the Toyota ambassador said.

“It was very low-key.”

On a positive note , apparently a prominent person who transferred to Geelong will not face charges anymore, as said by Tom Morris last night. Probably won't be looking to transfer interstate though.

Melbournes actions this week are strange.
Offloading 3 starsis a huge move.
You'd think you would at least try to reignite them as the new coach and see if a new environment can can them up and about playing like their old selves.
Oliver and Petracca are still reasonably young, I think it is the wrong move.

They're trying to cash in on being bad next season before Tassie comes in and picks the eyes out of the draft.

Is that where their list was at?
They've had a couple early picks recently so have some emerging talent.
Gawn, Trac, Oliver,Kossie, Lever, May is enough top end talent if they are playing well.
This has Nth Melbourne vibes.
Cutting too deep

I think they're just trying to make a fresh start with the new coach.

From all reports it seems like the culture at the club was just awful.

  • Steven May literally punching another player off the field and often shouting angrily at other players on the field
  • Clayton Oliver with whatever off-field issues he was having and clearly looking pretty unhappy at the club
  • Christian Petracca literally almost dying due to their mismanagement of his injury
It's no surprise to me that those are the three players they're looking at moving on.

But their loss could be our gain. If we can get Oliver with Melbourne paying a significant portion of his salary, that would be absolutely amazing for us. It's very rare that we get offered bargains like this and we would be crazy if we're not pursuing it as ardently as possible.

Fills a need for us in the midfield and could give us that boost that we need to get to the premiership. Plus Sydney would likely be the best place for Oliver. Give him a chance to get out of the media spotlight, fit him in with our boys and you could see him getting back to his best footy.

That's all reasonable.
Not what I d do, but still understandable.

Melbourne has said they don't want Derksen.

I am happy to keep him, so we only need to find one more KPD. Someone in the draft - Blake Thredgold or Cody Curtin would be guys who might be available at a mid 30s - or if not, another desisted or state league guy.

You're not interested in Oliver?

The fact Callaghan was on the boat says it all.

We'd be mad not to make a play for him. He's exactly the sort of midfielder we need to be serious contenders.
Irrespective of what us fans think, it would appear that we are making the play for him. If he arrives in good nick - and you would hope he would want to impress - then it could be the jolt for the midfield that we need.

Why in the world not?

He could prove to be a quality player. Hope he sticks around and shows what he’s capable of.

I mean yeah, what would Pickett be thinking?

They have gone full rebuild and may be bottom half for the entirety of this contract.
When he signed they would have been talking finals tilts with Oliver and Trac in their prime
