Quite frankly Essendon* fiasco doesn't count - Blues missed out at 9th.

9th = missing out on finals.

You can't tell a Carlton fan that. They just don't understand how the ladder system works.

Essendon getting killed by umps tonight.
Don't know many people apart from commentators saying that they like umpires letting the game go on, looks ugly to me.
During last nights game, couldn't understand why they were quick to call 'play on' after a mark.

I don't think Hawthorn are looking all that impressive tonight TBH. Like Carlton Essendon are burning chances and Daniher and Carlisle have grassed about 4-5 marks I50.

Hawthorn are just making the most of their chances and playing in fits and spurts ala our 2011.

That what makes the Hawks so good. They take there Chances

It's also what makes them vulnerable IMO. As soon as you start expecting things to click they can go wrong for you.

Essendon are owning the ball and using it at 81% which is incredible to half time. They aren't out of it just yet.

Yeah, We wish the Pies can use the Ball that Well

Our midfield doesn't work hard enough for it unfortunately :(

Individually Essendon's players don't have that much more skill than ours. They just work so much harder for each other that they get in space more often and make it easier to hit targets.

Well Hopefully last game makes them work harder

Hawks doing ok even without Mitchell, Sewell, Lake and Stratton to name a few.

Don't know about that. Hodge gone now too.

Even the immortal Hawthorn are vulnerable when having to rely on the youth.

To all those naysayers out there ATM it might be worth bearing it in mind when entering into discussion about us.

Put your money on the druggies.
We all know how they can run out games.
And we all know why they can run out games.
If you doubt me, google a pre drug year pic of the Brownose medallist and compare it to a post drug year pic.
The results will astound you and make you question the hierarchy of our game and it's reaction to the drug year.

Burns? Was widely tipped to get the Eagles job before Simpson got it.

Still, wouldn't mind Bomber Thompson if Buckley doesn't pan out. At all.

I think Burns will be a senior coach one day, but not with us. I just can't imagine that we'd promote from within if Bucks can't get it done.

FWIW I should probably elaborate on Sumich. He was Worsfold's right hand man when they were successful and is now Lyon's right hand man. As an assistant continually overlooked for senior gigs he just reminds me of Hinkley...

Just looking at the numbers and Hawthorn are getting schooled. Only 4 players have had more than 15 touches Burgoyne, Gibson, Hill and Suckling. Compared to 13 for Essendon.

They'll probably pull out the win somehow, but if they hadn't converted so well in the first half they would have been spanked.
