Pre-season Richmond look absolutely shocking v Collingwod, pre-season Carlton win comfortably v GWS, RD 0 GWS easy win over Collingwood, and then tonight.

I know pre-seson form and all that, but the maxims footy's a funny game and any team can beat another on any given day do come to mind.

I thought Carlton would thrash the Tigers tonight, but 40+ points done, with a hugely inexperienced team, Richmond somehow found the confidence and willpower to fight back based on terrific run and pressure, deserve all the praise that will come their way.

Similar intent would be pleasing from our guys on Saturday. 🤞

Whoever tries to claim footy isn’t a mental game, I give you the 10 stages of Carlton’s capitulation:

1. Confidence (when 18 points up)
2. Complacency (when 41 points up)
3. Mild annoyance (when Richmond kick a few)
4. Frustration (when margin back to a couple of goals)
5. Worry (when scores level up)
6. Mild panic (when 12 points down)
7. Panic (when 18 points down)
8. Anger
9. Despondency
10. Depression

Another clear example of what manic pressure and 100% effort can bring you. Richmond clearly the weaker side on paper had no right to win this game, but they played with courage, Max effort after max effort. Most teams/players fold under that kind of pressure we have all seen it time and time again. Time to see it from our mob. With Richmond like effort and our talent anyone is beatable.

Is there a player in our lineup that the oppo would be truly fearful of? Someone who fearlessly crashes a pack, charges into a contest to clean out or hits like a truck? We have no one who is going to hurt the opposition. I seriously can not think of one. We just have pretend tough guys like McInerney and Papley who rarely match their swagger with tough acts.

McInerney is as tough as a broken egg

The truth is it is not a traditional opening. This has only been happening since 2008. Before that didn't the Grand Finalists of the year before start the season? Or was that SANFL?
Most likely SANFL. This has been happening since Channel 9 and Eddie had the rights. This game was his doing

Zero. We have a group of players of talk the talk against bottom sides, but then hide when the real pressure comes.
