Cody Walker #5
Cody has become one of the most consistently prolific midfielders in the Talent League over the last two months of play and was on his way to another massive 30+ possession performance here before a wrist injury ended his game prematurely. He sustained the injury at the first bounce after half time and battled on manfully for a few more minutes before checking out with his team already well in control on the scoreboard.

Hunter Holmes #1
Hunter Holmes is the younger brother of Geelong's Max Holmes and comes with a similar reputation as an elite junior athlete. That combination of pace and endurance will have Hunter firmly in the draft frame even though his footy game is still quite raw at this stage. He turns in consistently solid performances but is yet to have that real break out game at either Talent League or Champs level that would have his name moving higher up draft boards.

Archie Van Dyk #1
Archie Van Dyk is an elite talent for 2026 currently starring as a bottom ager for South Adelaide in the SANFL u18s comp, predominantly playing midfield and forward. In this game he showed his clean hands at ground level and ability to find angles for creative disposal, but the standout was probably his marking display, attacking fearlessly in the air and out muscling opponents in 1v1 contests.

Something a little more Essendon centric but Noah Caracella got a bit of it over the weekend for the Falcons if you're able to. Obviously probably not on our radar completely as a 19 year old not setting the world on fire but would be good to see his body of work
No promises, he's pretty low on the radar. More likely to get to him if he puts himself in the draft frame. Seems extremely unlikely at this stage.

Xavier Taylor #1
In a draft pool without a lot of key defensive talent, Xavier Taylor has been making a strong case to be the first to have his name read out on draft night. He's somewhat undersized for the position, but excellent in the air with clean hands and fearless attack. He assertively takes the game on, willing to come off his man to intercept or impact third up and will often be seen dashing through the middle of the ground in transition.

Billy Wigmore #1
Back-to-back games of 16 marks in the Talent League put bottom-ager Billy Wigmore on the radar as an exciting prospect for the 2026 draft. Billy is a medium sized defender capable of reading the play and intercepting with clean 1 grab overhead marks, his aerial prowess allowing him to play taller than his listed height. He attacks the ball on the ground as well as the air, and works hard to get involved exiting D50.

Big thanks for this, one of my favs for next year. Dual sided, strong overhead and can kick bullets combined with game sense and a lovely shape to his frame screams AFL player very quickly. There's a bit of Dawson about the way he plays.

Do you mean Harry Van Hattum?

If so, I don't think he's playing in any of the comps that get streaming coverage this year.

BUGGER!

Thanks anyway.

Can I swap the Mad Hatter request for a Thatcher Simmons request?

This lad really caught my eye a couple of weeks ago when they played the Rebels, I'm not sure but think I mentioned it to you at the time, certainly mentioned it to my Adelaide draft buddies Jeffcrowe and Danger in Texas and he's franked that game since.

Callum Smith #1
Fulfilling a request for a look Kevin Bartlett's grandson Callum Smith who's been putting up big numbers in the Talent League over the last month or so. He's a big bodied inside midfielder who finds plenty of the footy and is able to regularly hit the scoreboard.

Personally, I have concerns about his lack of athleticism and disposal skills, but we'll see how he fares over the rest of the season.

Jack Dalton #1
Great to see Jack Dalton back out there for his first Talent League game of the season after some pretty significant injury setbacks. This was one of the busiest performances of the season with Dalton seemingly involved in everything around the ground, working extremely hard both to find the footy and apply defensive pressure. This game was an extremely scrappy affair between two traditional rivals with clean skills at a premium, which wasn't helped by the rain and wind arriving in the second half, and like the majority of players from both teams Dalton struggled at times to hit targets.

He'll get there as long as he keeps performing to this level. A couple of strong performances for Country would help to boost his profile.
I'm hearing Talor Byrne has been added to the VC squad for the weekend, now to see if he gets a gig in the final team. About bloody time!!!

I'm sure he will. This country squad has top end talent but isn't very deep, I'd pick Byrne over at least half the names on that team sheet.

Wouldn’t mind some footage on Jasper Hay if possible. Late/rookie selection and we need a KPD. Axel Walsh is dominating WA PSA as an 15/16 year old double under ager but he’s 2027 so appreciate there might be more pressing kids to look at.
I was working through Axel Walsh game for WA v SA in the u16 champs, but the crazy waterlogged conditions make it not super useful. If he has another big outing in the final two games I'll get one of those up.

Blake Justice #1
An early look at bottom aged Essendon NGA Blake Justice who's looking to be a likely type for the 2026 draft. He's tall and rangy for a midfielder, with clean and quick hands. He lacks strength right now which is not unusual for a bottom-ager but doesn't shy away from the physical side of the game.

Josh Lindsay #6
Another prolific outing for Josh Lindsay, rebounding off half back for Vic Country and directing play with his silky left boot. His Country team was under the pump all game from a SA team that's dominated this Champs series, but Lindsay was able to absorb the pressure and respond with composure and class all game.

Dyson Sharp #13
Sharp has been the inspirational leader for this SA team which has barnstormed through the opposition in a fashion rarely seen at this level. He was hugely influential in the first half when the game was there to be won and likely sealed the Larke medal for player of the Champs as SA surged into a strong lead. He was quieter in the second half and copped a punishing tackle which left him sore and in the hands of trainers but by then the job was well and truly done.

Hussien El Achkar #4
Hussien El Achkar has been having a strange journey through his top age season. Often making things happen around him and creating opportunities only for the final end product to let him down, missing a significant number of set shots and snaps on goal. This performance might just be the moment when he starts to turn things around, as everything he touched here turned to goals. He kicked 6 of his own and also created a number of other chances for his teammates.

Oliver Greeves #9
Ollie Greeves has been mister consistent, finding the footy and impacting the game at every level this year. In his return to talent league footy after an extended break to play in other competitions, Ollie found a stack of the footy as he always does, especially prolific in contested situations displaying his ability to swoop on loose balls and fight through tackles. He presented around the ground as an outlet and was strong in the air, displaying how his extra height for a mid gives him a point of difference. He's started to lay to rest question marks over his kicking efficiency and was again solid in that area here.

Mitch Marsh #2
Marsh has been one of the most significant draft risers across this Champs series, leading the goal kicking for a dominant SA team that stomped the competition. The features of his game were all on display here, able to find space to lead up at the ball carrier, clunk marks on a full speed lead ala Mathew Lloyd, and capable of converting from anywhere with his elite set shot kicking.
