I think he really has to lift. I really like us to play with 3 tall forwards but if he doesn't lift we might not be able to do this. Burton and Welsh will not be back for another 5-6 weeks and if Carey misses a game or 2 with injury there could be alarm bells ringing.

if you were true Adelaide supporters then you would give Daniel Schell a reall chance! i'm sick to death of hearing everyone say how bad he is...even i admit that he has alot of improving to do but at least i will stick by him and support him till the end. He played a damn side better then some others in the team today! The minute he does something bad, everyone gets stuck into him...what about some of the others players from today??...Hentschel...crowel...goodwin?? They all had shockers today but the only person you get stuck into is schell!!

Schell was pathetic today. It was excruciating watching him make two mistakes in the space of 5 seconds(!!) right in front of where I was sitting. He wrestled with his opponent when he already had front position, and saw the ball drop short of him when he should've taken an easy mark, he could have made up for that by picking the ball up, but instead just watch it bounce away as he had no idea what to do once it hit the deck. And need I mention his miss in what was a crucial kick for goal in the last quarter? Of course the worst part is I can't talk about anything else he did because he was never in the game! Schell may prove me wrong, and I hope he does, but he just confirmed by belief from last year that he is a hack. Does anyone here believe he was worth Peter Vardy? I don't think he's fit to polish his shoes.

And comparing him to those other players? Sure they were down on form, but we know Goodwin is a proven performer - he just had an off-day - yet he still did more than Schell. Crowell was a passenger but he has shown in the past he can play - on a good day at least. Which are much fewer and far between for Schell. As for Hentschel, it was his debut and he can be forgiven for that reason.

Schell had a shocker and comparing his game to the likes of Goodwin is plain stupid. Goodwin had a quite game but I wouldn't call it a shocker. He finished with 15 touches which is some 13 more than Schell. As for Hentschel, I doubt Schell was much better in his 1st game. One big difference between Schell and Hentschel is that Trent has guts and puts his body on the line which is more that I can say for Schell. Yes Crowell was shocking but he has at least proven that he can play well at AFL level which is more than I can say for Schell. Two good games out of some 20+ is hardly what I call promising. So I will continue to critisise Schell until the day he proves to me that he can cut it at this level. I am more than happy to to eat humble pie but for some reason I think I will not have a tase of it when it comes to Schell. Even Gary Ayers in the press conference said that he was disappointed with Schell as he looked lost out there. If you watch Schell play, he looks everything but a footballer. He needs to improve at least 200% to make sure he is around on our list this time next year.

There was nothing to like about his 2 touches or the other non touches today.

I'm sorry, he didn't play better than some others in the team today. He's an ordinary player.

Hell no!!!!!! We could have been better of keeping the 3rd round pick we got for Vardy. At least we could have gotten a decent player for Vardy. In this case we got a hack.

Let's not forget also that Schell only played today because:

a) McGregor was a late withdrawal; and
b) Central had the bye

As I asked in another thread, I'm not sure about this policy about picking the emergency according to which team has the bye. Surely we should just be picking our 23rd best fit player?

Exactly correct. Hentschell seemed more nervous than just about any player I have seen on debut. He looked so desperate to do well he didn't actually give himself much of a chance it seemed.

Well to be pedantic, "Worst player in the AFL" is probably an untruth. He did have a couple of good performances last year. Not that I'm overly bothered by the remark as I don't rate him and it probably wasn't intended literally. Come to think of it, didn't you say recently that Schell was no worse than Fitzgerald?

What i said was that in reality Fitzgerald performed no better than Schell, but for some reason Fitzgerald was seen as a great player by Crows fans whereas Schell has always been seen as a hack. I never rated Fitzgeralds 8 games for the Crows as highly as some others seemed to. I thought he was pretty average.

Before the start of last year where he proved that he was in fact a very very average player!!

I thought that if he could stay fit he could be avery good player. But in his games at the crows he didnt live up to that potential. 1 goal a game and 3 marks a game for someone 197cm and who inreality would have been pretty hard to match up on (not many full forwards are 197cm tall) wasnt really good enough dont you think!! In fact i remember the week before he did his knee most of the people on this board thought he should have been dropped!

I agree with Macca's summation of Schell's game and his relative value.

Schell is getting close to challenging David Gallagher for his well earned title of "Worst Crows Player Ever"

That's true but we prefer balanced discussion over here and the comments though a little harsh in my view are welcome.

Yep, and I never said I had a problem with Macca19s post about Schell, just mentioned the way 'outsiders' are treated on their board.This which I just read on the Port board from a Port supporter soooo....
