I don't think Rankine's sins deserved missing the entire finals series, it unfairly punishes the fans and his teammates.
2 weeks for a first offensive and a massive fine to go to an LGBT charity would have been the punishment I would have handed out.
But what's done is done.

Yeah, but you also think Willie Rioli should have been given an award, a parade, and a statue in Broadmeadows for threatening an opponent.
defending rankine for choosing to do something stupid is a remarkably funny decision to make. brave work elmo, brave work
You are clearly exaggerating
Anyhow the racist abuse Wioli got on Instagram is far more offensive and toxic than the harmless threats he made tbh. I saw the screenshots, truly vile and evil posts made by * wits
Your mad at Willie cause he (IMHO incorrectly) labelled an legend of your club (Jason Dunny) as a racist
One of the North players should have painted their fingernailsThe ghosts of Snoop Dogg and Rankine have Adelaide rattled
Expect Clarko's men to accelerate and send Adelaide to the road of oblivion on the second half
For saying his old man was chubby when he arrived at the club? * wits sending racist DMs are emboldened by hysterical dickheads like you.
I said Willie was wrong when he accused Dunstall of being racist.
Learn to read numbnuts
Who actually heard what he said?I don't defend what Rankine did but I agree with Elmo and some other people that his 4 game suspension is too harsh a punishment especially when it will likely rub him out for the entire finals series.
It seems like most of the people that wanted a 4 game suspension or longer are supporters of the other teams playing finals.
Skimreading from past experience.
As for the penalty (or lack thereof) you can't brush it off as not serious, when he clearly wasn't joking (even if he had no means or intention of carrying it out), anymore than Rankine could have argued he didn't really mean the slur he used.

Will be very happy living in WAKing Xerri you magnificent beast. WA ROO
Who actually heard what he said?
Some of the Collingwood players did as they were the ones that reported it but no one else would have known about it otherwise.
my main issue is that it should be the cascading increase to stamp the behaviour out. couldn't give a shit if he was from a finals or non-finals side. it's the inconsistency and enabling which is dumb.I don't defend what Rankine did but I agree with Elmo and some other people that his 4 game suspension is too harsh a punishment especially when it will likely rub him out for the entire finals series.
