Reckon that Cunnington out of all of the North up and comers could produce the best supercoach season.

A few too many getting on the Cunnington train for my liking. Nah, he's just a handball-happy pure inside mid with no tank who's already as good as he's ever going to be ;).

Actually, yeah, think he's worth looking at.

I'd easily take Cunnington over Ziebell sc wise.

Taylor Garner interests me, what's the go with him? Hard to tell until NAB I guess?

Rumoured to have some sort of injury as he's been left out of NAB challenge game 1. Would steer clear.

Nahas on the other hand... Watch with interest over the pre-season games.

Not that I'l be starting with either most likely due to round 8 byes but I have a very strong feeling that one of Ziebell, Cunnington or Bastinac will go 105+, maybe even low 110's which is enough to start at M5/6 and be a permanent M8 all season.

Which one though?
If all 3 of them go 105+ they'll finish top 4 and contend for the flag. Can't see it happening.
I'm not sold any of them becomes an absolute, rolled gold, A+ midfielder. I think they are all more like your very good B+ types. Cunnington the most likely. North's biggest problem is they don't have enough absolute elite matchwinners. Harvey isn't one any longer, Wells can be but probably doesn't deliver that often enough. Petrie is very good, but not quite elite. Goldstein maybe, but am yet to see him take a game by the scruff of the neck.
If you look at all the better teams (historically too), they have absolute matchwinners. Their best 5-6 players are as good as anyones in the competition. I'm not sure NM have that. Maybe one of Ziebell, Cunnington or Bastinac gets there...NM need them too

Yep, gone cold on all 3 to start with.

Will monitor Ziebell's first two rounds scores and TOG though. If he pumps out 110-130's with 86% game time he'll go 110+ I think. He may also snot someone in Round 3 and miss 4 weeks!

The other two are not under consideration at all now.

It's only a sample size of one game, and a dead rubber at that, but he managed a 16-possession, 65-point game against Collingwood in his first non-sub game. Should probably have been 75 but for a nervous shank or two. Priced at about 30 points. With Patch Adams underdone Garner, Nahas, Harper and Wood could all be in the running for that HFF spot. I'd say he's an energetic kid, knows how to find to find the ball more naturally than say Harper, and loves a tackle. Got a year under his belt to find his feet more than a 1st year player at the same price. For equivalent players around his price, I'd pick him ahead of Jackson Paine and probably Matt Taberner. Would be an interesting toss-up with someone like Lennon.

If he looks like getting a decent run I'd consider him.

Bastinac will beat Zeibell and Cunnington SC points wise.....like Rob Zombie said Cunners handballs very often. Zeibell can be anything but Basti just accumulates possies and with Dal Santo coming into our system he is lower down the peck order for the opposition to shut down.

With Robbie Tarrant out for an extended period, who will fill the gap up forward?

Dan Currie?

Majak Daw?

Or does Hansen move up FWD and Joel Tippett gets a run?

I want to know if North will start round 1 with 2 rucks .ie. Goldy and Currie.

If they do you'd have to lock in Currie over Derickx for your R3 spot.

Only thing is we won't know till the second week of the split round so it will be too late by then.

With North playing the Bombers it might be better to go with Thurlow as your R3 and put aside the $5k for that free trade to Currie if he's picked.

Except then you miss out on putting Thurlow up forward for cash generation. With the exception of JKH, he looks the next most likely of all rookie forward/rucks to be playing Round 1 and each Round thereafter for a while.

Great point there mate. :thumbsu:

A quick summary: now that NAB and the praccies are over, what's new or changed?

Swallow, Tarrant, Daw, Harper, Adams, Garner are all injured or underdone, which gives the likes of Currie, Nahas and even Mason Wood a possible look-in early on. None of them would seem to have great JS beyond the first few weeks though.

I'd expect Currie to have the inside running on the R/F spot at the moment, though he hasn't been quite as impressive as this time last year. I'd still only have him handcuffed to Goldy, but no harm getting him now if Goldy is one of your upgrade targets.

Nahas' disposal hasn't been all that great, but his effort and work rate have been good. Should play a bit but better options at the price I'd think.

Wood was pretty good last night with 15 touches while being minded by the likes of Enright and Mackie. Good tank, will work up the ground and find plenty of the ball. Not sure about JS even if he is named early, but might be worth watchlisting with the dearth of FWD rookies.

Dumont unsighted in the seniors so far. I'd guess we won't see him until midseason at best.

Garner was looking good against Hawthorn but did a 6-week hammy. Midseason option at best.

NDS' primary role seems to be in the mids and across half-back so far. Picking up plenty of touches and fitting in nicely.

Brad McKenzie was a bit iffy in the first two NAB games but probably played his way into the ones against Geelong last night. A bit of talk that Scott really wants to give him a run. Beautiful ball user, needs to start getting a bit more of his own ball. Assuming he's picked R1 probably has good JS. Shame he's listed as Mid only. Would have been worth a look as a DPP.

Cunnington probably best on last night. Definitely building more outside game. He and Ziebell were listed by Fantasy Freako in the top 10 points per minute during NAB. That's DT points rather than SC and yes, only NAB, but good signs.
