How does Nick Meese on his own, seemingly monster a Phillips/Lobbe combination?
52 hitouts vs a combined 40? How does that happen? Home ground advantage?

Did we really recruit Kennedy to be medium forward that goes through the middle? While that's a role he feasibly could play, he's a natural ball winner/inside mid with the bonus of being good overhead. At the end of the day, he's a much better midfielder than those you've listed and I'm pretty sure that's why we recruited him. It's fitness that's letting him down atm.Think Caddy and Townsend, except an actual midfield contribution at AFL level, though I'm now feeling like we overpaid for him when Balta, Spargo, Daniels, Petruccelle and McCartin were in that range. Kennedy really does need to find some explosiveness in his play.

You could well be right, but I think SOSOS lacks the tools to be a regular forward. As a forward you have to be super quick, a powerful beast or highly elusive. He’s none of those things.I think they've put him there to learn about 2nd & 3rd efforts. I think they've put him there to learn to tackle and provide some defensive pressure. I think they've put him there to learn to hold his feet in the contest. I think they've also put him there to attempt to build some endurance into him. These are all things he'll need if he's to survive as a 3rd tall forward in the current AFL environment. Think Tom Lynch (Crows version). If he's able to have an effect at the stoppages in the front half then all the better. There's no place for SOSOS in a midfield containing Cripps & Kennedy. Just my thoughts though.
Kicked our first goal, then got two later on because he kept getting scragged when he took first possession.Looked like Jack kicked 3 goals in junk time in the 4th when the contest was well and truly over.
You could have said the exact same things about Townsend, but look at him now. Kennedy's a better player, but you need to find them a place in the system where they play to their strengths and aren't so easily presented with their weaknesses.Did we really recruit Kennedy to be medium forward that goes through the middle? Pace was the only real query on him pre-draft. He can always work on that like Cripps has. We just need to make sure we're always rotating him and Cripps with more dynamic types like Fisher, Dow and SPS.
Lobbe is coming off a low base, and Phillips has historically been awful at holding his ground in a contest. Relies wholly and solely on his leap, does Sauce. How does Nick Meese on his own, seemingly monster a Phillips/Lobbe combination?

But I guess you are calling it "junk time" as the contest was over after 10 minutes of the first quarter.
"Silvagni was on hand to hit the scoreboard, but it would prove to be Northern’s only goal of the first half as Williamstown stifled the Blues." ...
"Silvagni once again spent time in the midfield while making the most of his opportunities up forward, while Jacob Weitering featured prominently in the back half on the way to 21 disposals." ...
"Kennedy and Silvagni would also finish with seven clearances apiece, while youngster Ethan Penrith led the way with nine tackles."
GOALS
Northern Blues: Silvagni 3, Kennedy, Phillips

JSOS is trying his heart out and IMHO will be a very good player for us. Not sure why you are taking cheap shots...![]()
OK - but pretty tough marking to single out one of our best on a dirty day. JSOS seems to always play for the JerseyWas certainly not a cheap shop but just trying to get some perspective over his performance in a team that got thumped.. I had not seen vision or a full match report and just seen on the play by play that he kicked the last 3 goals of the game.. Usually in a contest like this, its junk time, the pressure has come off and its not uncommon for the losing side to kick a few last quarter goals.. I had suspected this to be the case and didnt want to start fapping over Jack kicking 4 goals if this was the case.

Get onto the same running coach Crippa went to. PC is so much quicker over his first 3 or 4 steps now, even over 10-20m I’d say. What's your theory? I think it's the position on the ground that his strengths shine the most.
I mean there's the risk he looks like Richard Hadley post-ACL, but there's also a decent chance he can become a great player in his own right, just has to keep working on his burst, same as Gibbs had to.
Crippa always had that power in his steps, but his fitness, technique and his physique weren't great.Get onto the same running coach Crippa went to. PC is so much quicker over his first 3 or 4 steps now, even over 10-20m I’d say.
I had not seen the stats yet, and looks like he has had a big game.. For me more important than the 4 goals was the 9 tackles.
. Would be great to see us lock the ball in our forward half more, and with Levi out JSOS offers something different that should complement Charlie and Harry without going too small. Plus allows us to structure a 7th man down back (Simmo) without losing one in the centre clearances if we call on him (when we need to halt momentum).Graham gets 30 disposals regularly in the VFL, 30 from a major inside AFL ball winner in the VFL is just a pass mark. Unless we are desperate, Kennedy can stay there and develop some form, he's been bog awful at AFL level. Would be good for him to build and improve on this in the VFL. Same with Silvagni and Weitering. There just isn't a spot for these guys really with the AFL side winning, probably only a few who could go out there and these guys aren't really replacements. Not unless we send Silvagni back for Plowman.

It was there I agree, has got significantly better IMO.Crippa always had that power in his steps, but his fitness, technique and his physique weren't great.
You can see him burst away in the U18s for WA despite being a huge kid with plenty of puppy fat.
Kennedy has shown nothing this year.. Nothing.. I am prepared to give him time in the VFL to prove he is capable but I had high expectations for such a highly ranked junior player and they are a long way from being met.
Our lack of investment in the Northern Blues is continuing to show, a quick glance of our list and only Sam Fisher & Josh Hill have been on an AFL list before.. I would think all teams would have at least a handfull of experienced ex AFL players that become the foundation of the VFL team that help the next crop of Carlton players develop.
