It’s not possible to fit 4 games in a day… other clubs can’t be expected to start earlier/later either
Of course it is. Plenty of clubs across different comps do it.

I’ve seen 5 games played at the one ground on several occasions with a night game and early game added, or a 5:30 twilight and then night game added.

Makes for a bloody long day for volunteers etc though.

surely in the 19's a parent could run the boundary?

19's has been last possession for a few years. Only the reserves has been club boundaries. Can't say I'm a massive fan because as a fieldie you're trying to watch the ball and ensure it's still in play or not. At the same time trying to watch away from the ball to make sure nobody gets clobbered too high. Invariably you can't watch both and someone always whinges. Prem and D1 19's are made easier with younger official boundaries which means we concentrate on free kicks and let them work out if ball is in play or not.

I may be idealistic but the old fashioned roster system that is used in juniors could easily be applied in seniors.
Maybe if senior clubs were more welcoming and engaging to the parents of players coming out of juniors, they might find themsleves some more volunteers.......

Not EFNL but interesting that three VAFA clubs have dropped out of divisional football for 2026. They’ll play thirds and only field one team. Two of them (Eley Park and Chadstone) are in the eastern suburbs. Even Swinburne kinda is, think they play at the old East Hawthorn ground.

Lot of problems around, though in isolation could possibly be good news for Nunawading.

VAFA had seven divisions a couple of years ago. Now they have six and the sixth grade only has six clubs.

There is still a strong possibility that all of these three sides will field 2 teams.

A simple case of too many clubs and not enough players.

It happened in the 1980s when a number of clubs folded (some merged), in a number of cases it was because a generation of players retired over a couple of seasons and they had no junior affiliation or it was too small for players to transition quickly enough to keep clubs afloat. Changes to attitudes on alcohol (e.g. .05 and booze buses), increasing red tape, government and council rules and other bureaucracy did not help either.

At one point in the 1980s, we had Blackburn, Blackburn North, Blackbourn North Burners and Bennettswood-Blackburn South all playing at the same time but only one club bore the 'Blackburn' name barely a decade later.

The ESCFA lost a number of clubs in the 80s and the YCWNFA lost a lot of clubs throughout the metropolitan area to the extent that they went from something like five divisions to disbanding within five years, with many clubs going to the wall.

Covid seems to have been the catalyst for a change of attitudes towards participation in sports in recent years and unless we see a sharp spike in people returning or getting involved in senior footy, we will see a similar loss of clubs over the next 5-10 years.

more likely another divvy with 4 to 6 teams hopeful of putting 2 teams on park
if so thered be a lot of forfeits

Oh dear what an absolute pity, someone finally found out how much debt Donny are in. I hope to see a local leader post. Not that Nuna are any better but for crying out loud this is ridiculous. The EFNL should be ashamed letting them get back up.
UP THE DYTERS

EB Clubrooms are yet to be demolished. Word is they will be demolished next year. Delay is apparently in the tendering.
I was surprised when I went up there last week to see it still standing. The Council are really short of money. It looks like nothing will happen with the Davy Lane Project for some time (many years) due to lack of finances. The East Burwood Basketball Centre cost has risen to $100 Million, the Council is $30 Million short on funding.

I might be out of touch saying this but it is crazy how much money these redevelopments cost. Not saying they aren’t worth it by any means but modern day facilities are so costly.
In regards to EB, is there the possibility the council might look to do a combined project with the athletics track next door?
