NRL NRL 2023 - Round 18

Yeah I was just looking that up. Those two winning margins that were bigger in 1935 were within a week of each other and Bulldogs were the losing side on both occasions. What happened there?
It was the Dogs first season in league, and they were struggling to be competitive, and there no concession for new teams in those days, and so they were terrible in keeping their defensive line intact, conceded around 9 tries a game. In those two games the Dragons and Roosters just piled on the pain and scored 19 tries each.

By the end of the season, the Dogs had beaten University twice, which were the only two games they won that season, but University were struggling more than the Dogs, they just weren't quite as bad defensively. University were gone by 1937.

Also tries were worth only 3pts in those days.

Remember the abnormally high number of cliff hangers we had in the first few weeks of the season, especially in prime time?

We're copping the receipts now :(
