Nuclear Testing in Australia?

There is a line that says...

Despite warnings not to carry out nuclear experiments in and around the 'Fire Belt', "Israel and India continue to conduct nuclear tests in the Indian Ocean, and the United States has recently decided to carry out similar tests in the Australian deserts, which is included in the 'Fire Belt', the Egyptian weekly magazine wrote."

As far as I know there hasn't been any nuclear testing in Australia for quite some time. Am I wrong? I would be outraged if Australia allowed America to conduct nuclear testing here.

I'd be outraged if the US has tested nukes in Australia, but at this point in time I am very skeptical of the article.
