I was dumbfounded Wallace didn't push numbers back to crowd up the dog's forward line. From a spectacle point of view I'm glad he didn't (althought the match was still certainly no classic) but by going head to head with the dogs from the first bounce it was always going to end in tears.
Bulldogs were not very impressive (that third quarter was as bad as I've seen) but I was genuinely shocked at the poor skill level and decision making of the tigers. I think they've gone backwards on the last two years on that evidence. That passage of play in the middle of the ground in the second quarter where they handballed in a circle about 7 times before turning the ball over was so bad it was funny. With Shultz, Polak and Richo up forward the smart thing against the dogs would have been to get the ball in as quickly as possible. Wasn't this obvious?
I think Wallace has a lot to answer for from last night. His gameplan made absolutely no sense and actually played the bulldogs back into some sort of form. One final thing.....IMO the tigers drafting focus needs to be on blokes who can kick. This should be the number one criteria on the list and everything else secondary (assuming of course they have the talent). Missing targets has been the downfall of the tigers for a long as I can remember yet you continue to select blokes who can't kick to save themselves.
