If Bergman can buy into Carr’s vision after a crap transition year and the pull of going to his childhood club, then NAS can be convinced as well.

We are in good hands with Carr and I’ll trust the process
Bergman has signed for two years. It's literally a "I'll have a look at what Carr is doing before making my decision contract". I'm surprised that St Kilda haven't actually offered the same to NWM instead of a giant contract.

Exactly
He believed in the vision enough to sign on for 2 years and see

You pretty much can be certain Ross the boss is there for 2 years.

Those 2 years don’t look good.

If I’m the Saints I’m not giving NWM an out any stage.

That 1.7 per year is actually short changing him on his value to the Saints.

The closer you look and the likely longevity of his career. If Port were to match it, I wouldn’t think it was ridiculous.

NWM knows what Ross will do, it's Melbourne the city he doesn't like if rumours are to be believed. And it's not going to get any better there, so get out while the getting's good. It's only getting bigger and harder to live in.

And if the RWNJ's are to be believed it will be End of Days if the ALP is re-elected (currently in front in polls).

I still don't know how on earth we have any chance of getting this done trade wise. Houston cost Collingwood a future first plus pick 36, Noble and Richards as he is a 28 year old genuine half back flanker only and not much hope of ever moving into the midfield and most still think that Collingwood made out like bandits.

If the Houston deal was so poor i would hate to know what a fair deal for NWM is.

Come in peace ✌️

But we have. Infact we have a large number of our best 22 OOC at the end of 2027 when Lyons contract is also up.

That’s the same deal we have offered Nasiah who is a big fan of Ross.

There is more of a chance of you guys landing him at that point than now.

He is out of contract, he nominates us, we offer our 26 and 27 firsts, if Saints don't accept he threatens to go to psd , where we pick him up for free. One benefit of finishing lower then the crows is this leverage, as we come before them. However the Saints are currently lower then us, so technically they could threaten to redraft him, but this is unlikely as it raises likely legal and player manager relationship issues.

I come in peace. Issue with that is you have Norf, Tigers and West Coast who will take him without question before it gets to Saints or Port.

How many times in history does this threat ever actually work out like this without another club that finishes lower just taking the player?

In theory yes, but wont happen as no clubs are taking a player who doesn't want to be there and then also piss off there player manager. We folded on the Houston trade in part , from the pressure of his player manager Paul Connors, this was even thou the contract had three years to run. Players will get to where they want to be.

They can but they will destroy whatever relationship they would have with that player agent and the organisation they are from. Managers won't recommend future clients to join their club if that were to happen and considering where those clubs are currently at, they wouldn't want to risk damaging future relations as they rebuild.

Managers have a lot of power in the trade period and will do everything they can to ensure their client gets to their club of choice whether it would be "threatening" clubs to take the deal or risk burning the bridge.

Which one of those clubs are going to spend big money on a player who wants to be in South Australia? This isn't like Carlton stepping in and selecting Nick Stevens who wanted to be traded to Victoria, after Port refused to deal with Collingwood.

If everything goes arse up enough that NWM is walking out of St Kilda to a draft, then he'll be playing in SA. None of those clubs will be spending his contract, maybe the Saints do out of spite to force him to sit out a year.

Honest question, how do saints fans feel about offering 1.7m per year to TDK and seemingly offering less (albeit still quite a bit) to NWM?

Jack Martin got to the club he wanted, despite Gold Coast even having an earlier pick.

Luke Ball got to the club he wanted.

Jackson Hately got to the club he wanted.

Nick Stevens is the only one I can think of that ended up somewhere else. And even then, it was a club in the state he wanted to go to.

And if NWM is leaving St Kilda, its not because they don't pay him enough or aren't giving him playing opportunities. Its because he wants to be in SA close to his family.

This didn’t stop Geelong absolutely fleecing the bulldogs in the smith trade.

If NWM was managed by the scum at Connor sports, you can guarantee, st kilda would have been blackmailed into accepting what ever is on the table.

can't we just chuck everything we don't want at st. kilda and surely a few will land? like they can pick any 3 of the dozen guys we don't want as long as contracts and finances etc. all line up?

You cant blame the players managers, they are doing what there payed for, which is looking after their client. Its a brutal business , but it is what it is, we may not like it but you have just got to work the system.

2 million on a one year contract for a homesick indigenous player who makes it clear he will be asking for a trade at the end of his contract?

He walks to Port

So your happy with them telling clubs “accept this deal or we will tell our players not to deal with your club”.

Or telling clubs not to pick players in the PSD (when they have every right to), because they refuse to go there.

It effectively breaks the whole systems and is the reason Collingwood were able to get Houston for unders when they didn’t have any ****ing first round picks.

Not to mention the agent’s have a preference for their clients to go to big Victorian clubs as they get a cut of the player endorsements.

Houston was under contract for 4 more years he wasn’t out of contract though. Big difference in that part.
