I know the Saints supporters want to dismiss the idea of the PSD as a real threat, but in this case, the threat does indeed remain real despite a fair few teams in front of Port.
There's a long way to go before we even reach that point. However, when was the last time you saw a player not get to their club of choice via the PSD? The last one I can think of was the late John McCarthy when Port picked him up (he was averse to coming there).
The PSD requires players to set out their requirements for a contract, which is a ridiculous rule, but it allows them to manipulate the numbers in such a way to ensure they get to their Club of choice.
Port are offering a deal which is structured in such a way to be front loaded offering near 2M per season. Based on my limited, but far from zero, understanding of Port's cap situation, I am inclined to believe Port could even further front load such a deal if absolutely necessary.
No team is going to be taking a player on a deal up to 2.5M in 2026 via the PSD. They most likely won't have the cap room to begin with.
Though I don't think it will get to that stage anyway.
NWM and JHF share the same agent. And agents have trends they follow when getting these types of deals done. What's important to remember is that the JHF trade request essentially came out of the blue one Sunday night before the start of trade week. However, all the ground work had already been completed. That is, the player had agreed to terms at Port, he had met with the Club (pretty certain he had his medical done too), and both Clubs had preliminarily agreed upon the framework of what a deal would look like. It was only after the uproar from North fans on the Monday morning that Brady Rawlings
contacted one of Crippa or CD (think it was the former) and informed him that the deal needed to be better because their fans were irate. So it took the better part of a week or so to get done, but it never was in doubt to occur.
NWM isn't going to formally request a trade unless his agent has sorted all of the particulars and the general gist of the framework of a deal can be agreed upon.

he has bugger all ties with saints apart from his step dad playing there BRIEFLY and then wanting to get home to port and saints screwed him over. there are actual ties here at Port.
