You have a bloke with 1 year left on his deal and big rumours he is coming back to Vic . I think you can see where saints supporters are coming from.
You’re so disingenuous it isn’t funny. You are well aware that butters is worth more. You are just lying if you say otherwise

The rumours are that he’s out of contract next year and has every vic club chasing him. That is it. And it’s highly unlikely he’d go to your mob even if he did want to return.

I didn’t in any way shape or form claim he would come or wanted to come.

I just threw out some hypotheticals.

Ok. Mate respectfully I’ve pointed out how he can’t get to port via the draft, unless you know a way I don’t?

West coast North Richmond etc all have a plethora of cap space they would use instantly for Nas.
2 million a one year deal no medical no interview.

A guarantee, he’ll leave after the one year.

A home sick indigenous player.

A word from the players association.

A word from the AFL

A quiet word from his manager about other players he manages on their list.

He walks to Port

I think Butters for Nas straight up would probably have everyone walk away satisfied - no need for first rounders.

I don’t think Bergman is worth multiple firsts. He definitely hasn’t shown anywhere near the consistent level of Nasiah. So maybe it would be Bergman + Berry/FRP..

The irony in these two statements..

Going by this logic Nas hasn't shown anywhere near the consistent level of Butters

So maybe it would be Nas + Pou/Frp..?

There is definitely a bit of that sentiment floating around, but at the same time, blokes like your phantom mod do you no favours by setting expectations for a draft pick/player haul in exchange for NWM well above the reality of any trade that will materialise.
Phantom isn't a mod on our board btw

I believe he remains for 2 years.

But the point I’m making is that he lives and plays with 2 of his best mates already 😂

It isn’t new for him.

It comes down to family and likely the knowledge that a deal is just going to be very hard to do between clubs.
Im a Port supporter & think it would be very sad for the Saints to lose him. No different to my feelings if we lost Butters. I dont like to see players leaving clubs that dont get any favours from the biased Afl system.

To be fair, Butters hadn’t won’t anything at 22 either.

Nas seemingly on track, might even have his maiden AA jersey this year.

Psd won’t happen. We should stop dreaming that is an option.

ND might happen though if we can get a pick in the top 10. No club would pay that high a price for a player not wanting to go there.
He would be better than all the talent available and again, we pick ahead of you.

Mate no one gives a fk about this revisionist history game you guys like to play.

Butters is a 2x AA, 2x BNF and ALFCA winner at age 24.. and tracking for a 3rd.. so I'm pretty sure he won his first AA at age 22/23 as well

I know very well how good he is mate.

He is a better player today.

Plotting trajectory’s here and nas would be looking every bit as good right now.

Hence why you want him

The AA40?

Didn’t get his first jumper until 2023 I thought ?
Yeah he made the team in 2023 for the first time

But in 2020, his second season he made the AA sqaud

Sqaud=44 man

team=blazer/team of 22

Apologies for any confusion on my wording

To be fair

Have a look at deals for players of the ilk of Tom Mitchell, Charlie Cameron, Adam Cerra, Bailey Smith, Izak Rankine, Dan Houston, and Jordan Dawson, then claim with a straight face a future first plus steak knives won't be around the mark.

In theory that’s true. In reality, player managers have more power than you think, and it just doesn’t happen.

In theory, we could have kept Houston to his contract, Bailey smith would have gone to the ND and been picked up before Geelongs pick.

The club already has a reputation.

That is a bit... surprising. I mean Essendon, sure, but some clubs are expected to be ridiculous PITA and some like our sorry selves and say GC are treated like we are supposed to just roll over every time. So those "ratings" factor in pre-existing realities (the notorious Dododododro legacy at Essendon) and biases at the other end of the expectation spectrum.

Sounds like a heavyweight title fight between two trading villains is coming up :drunk::drunk:

I get when saints fans say based off of trajectory nas might have lots of accolades when he is butters age

However Butters is a midfielder, he doesnt get touches off of halfback.

u have to be in the top1% of players to get 30 a game in the middle, compared to racking it up off of half back, there is no gurtantee nas can develop the contensted game to be worth the equivalent of butters.

Mids are always greater in value than a gun half back flanker

This is how i see it

I truly don't get how we are hard to deal with, we got smashed on the Houston trade.

And Gold Coast who always get destroyed in trades, got the best deal in their history when we gave them a top 10 pick for Lukosius (who was dropped to the VFL for them), and we took VFL player Rory Atkins' 500k contract off their hands.

We are on the same page mate.

Point I was making Nas either matches what Butters did at 22 - AA40

Likely on track to succeed it- first guernsey and a BnF.

He is a very special talent. Hence why you guys want him + are reportedly offering $2m a season for 2026+2027 and your board has a 54 page thread on him.

You might not watch a lot of us.

But he has played a lot of midfield the last 2 weeks. Even gone forward at times. He has looked - sorry to swear on your board.
